Kalamazoo Band Saw

First time post here so please excuse my ignorance...
I've searched for any info on this band saw I am looking at...
It is a 7x14 Kalamazoo...
No model # is given but the owner listed blade length as 10'-5" .035 thickness and 3/4 wide...
I shot him a quick text and it is a 110V machine...

My old 1983 Buffalo 4x6 Taiwan finally gave up the ghost and I would like to get a little better unit...
I am not a professional but I weld and fabricate as needed for the farm...
I know that the footprint is larger than my little old 4x6 but I can manage...
Any advise would be appreciated...

Kalamazoo's are good machines.

I used one like that in the shop and have a smaller one at home.

Wrong manual, I think that is actually an 8 X 16 saw, that manual is for the smaller saw that uses an 89" blade. I have a 610, good saw, some parts are still available from Clausing. Will be quite a step up from a 4 X 6, long as you have the space.

Well it's not a true 816, Because I have one!
The original 816 saws are all cast-iron including the legs, Bed, & main carriage/guide arms, & weighs around 500lbs.

Looking at the original C/L posting again, It may be a DIY combination of two saws? Looks like the hinges are DIY & the angle iron frame for the guides may also be DIY?

I currently have my 816 saw tore down & partially restored, Just need to get the main drive wheel repaired & a new drive spindle for it.

Fortunately they still make replacement parts for the Kalamazoo band saws, But they definitely don't give them away!

It's all stored away for right-now, But hopefully I'll get it all finished up this fall.

I restored one of the cast iron versions of the Kalamazoo saw a few years ago and part of the job was to re-make the direction sheets that were under the blade guards. I think I have these in word format that can be e-mailed if anyone wants a set. The drawings need a bit of hand work to come out ok but they print pretty good otherwise. Here are a couple pics of saw and the direction sheets. Ed.

As I look at that saw more, I think Doug may be right, it looks modded/cobbled together. Parts of the base look like my 610 which uses a 1/2" X 89" blade, same as the 7A. The wheel covers look more like the 816, and a lot of the rest of it looks poorly cobbled together. I think I'd pass.

Well, I think that I am going to have to pass. The listing on Craigslist had a contact. The owner did e-mail back with a phone number to contact via phone or text. Called 3 times always busy and 3 texts and no reply's. Don't think it is a scam because he's not requested money. He just doesn't call back. Think I'll pass since it appears to be a hybrid of some sorts. Thanks again for everyone's help. I really appreciate it.
