As always, I love a good before and after. With that the Snap On BH 16 A Brass hammer restoration is finished. It took two evenings working for a couple hours.

Small or big, I like to try and finish one project every time I go out in the shop. While using this file I decided the handle needed to be cleaned up. Just a quick sanding on the wood lathe and some linseed oil, and a hit on the buffing wheel for the metal collar and it looks clean. Not a restoration but I like my tools clean at a minimum. Less than ten minutes total. Collar reads “Luts File and Tool”

I finally got to use one of my Starrett radius gauges to determine a radius on this screwdriver. I love the handle on here and am working on modeling one myself that I’ll make out of aluminum.

I’ve been working on improving my brass polishing technique. I took this old bell and spiffed her up. I tried hand rubbing Mothers Mag and Aluminum Polish and it worked really well. But what worked even better was using a die grinder with a little polishing cloth wheel to work it in. That significantly sped up the process.

I bought this old Red Devil Paint Shaker/Conditioner today. It’s much quieter than the pneumatic ones I’ve used. The back casing is missing though so if anyone has an extra I’d be interested in buying it.

I also put too much effort into this little thing. Still haven’t used it yet though. 1762229528612.jpeg
