Karcher sandblasting atachment - any good?

Ive just bought a Karcher sandblasting attachment for my pressure washer for £4 from a car boot sale. Its similar to the one in the enclosed photo
How effective would this be for removing rust & paint from old vices?
Any recommendations for the type of sand/media to use?
I was thinking of using fine sand used for block paving

I was not impressed with my sandblaster attachment. I am going to try feeding it with a small pressure pot at low pressure to feed the nozzle. Mine was too erratic otherwise. This is the one I have.

Fine soft sand for removing pitted rust, coarse sharp sand for removing paint and coatings. Let it dry and then scuff with purple pad, most of the time a little flash rust doesn't hurt. It doesn't look good but have seen paint from decades done that way.
