I would think a better demographic for tools, and many are working with them daily, and are not afraid to voice an opinion about said tool(s), are HERE on GJ.

Certainly way more folks actually buying tools here, than on the facebook.

disclaimer: I am not a facebook fan

I am surprised more tool companies haven't figured us out yet. if they give us each one socket - we'll all go out and try to complete the set!

Not really, for example only about 1% of the active members participated in Sk day. I bet several times more than that signed up for the free hat for tech students though.
KC Tool supports this site, if you dont want to use facebook dont enter the contest.

How do they support this site? With 10% off purchase? That's not support...that's an advertisement.

Would seem a "FACEBOOK ONLY" contest should be advertised on "FACEBOOK ONLY".

Gentlemen,

We appreciate the feedback and are noting your comments & suggestions. As I mentioned above, I am going to talk to the boss tomorrow about putting together another drawing but for GJ members only.

Respectfully,

Jordan

Thanks! I'm in and I wouldn't have known about it otherwise. Even though I do have a facebook account I don't know every single tool page on it so I miss a lot of these opportunities.

Glad most Garagejournal users have the exact same feeling as me.

No Facebook, no how, not ever. And while we're at it, No instagram, twitter, and anything else like that. When I start caring what Soccermom0808 has tweeted about kim kardashian, then I'll hope my end is near because I must have brain cancer.

Lol.

Guess for 50% of the people here, it's only acceptable to be a GJ member. Yet nobody has any problems if there was a GJ-only drawing?

It's marketing folks. Having a few hundred people "like" them on Facebook (which is seen) is much better marketing than randomly giving tools to people in a thread here.

Don't like it, then buy the damn tools yourself and forget the drawing.

Appreciate this. I am another one in the 'No Facebook, No twitter, etc." camp and I am very technology savvy. Perhaps it's BECAUSE I understand IT and marketing that I want NOTHING to do with any of them?

I would, however, like to make an observation as a professional product marketing guy:

Tell your boss he's putting his marketing efforts totally in the wrong place. The people on FB are NOT your customers, and never will be - regardless of that you give away there.

I'll bet that FAR less than 1% of the people on Facebook will EVER buy even ONE of your tools. While being 'liked' by - say - 1,000 people might seem like a big deal, it's basically worthless. I seriously doubt that it will generate any business ... and likely won't even generate much (if any) good will.

No, the people on FB are NOT your customers; the people on Garage Journal ARE! IMHO, spend your marketing dollars and efforts where they will do you the most good - like here on the GJ.

Thank you, I hate how much companies are putting resources into "being social".

IDGAF that my hardware store has a Twitter.

I don't see the difference between this and someone posting a craftsman club only or SAMs club deal. Thanks for the offer to try out some new tools.

:FIREdevilI wold be curious to know the political leanings of the FB haters

Im a FB hater. I do love KC Tool Co. I have even posted about my visit there. I am not complaining that I cant sign up for this. The inability to win something in my mind is less important than being on FB. And my political leaning is Cconservative. If that means I value my privacy from others and my government so be it. The good news is you wont be able to know that since you wont find me on FB.

i'm not on FB either. I have never wanted join FB due to a drawing, but it does upset me when companies advertise like this. I haven't seen this brand of tool, the 1/2" rachet looks nice. O'well

Thank you for the giveaway. Its a great way for companies to drum up buzz.

I'm not a FB person, and never will be. FB membership is a bit of an IQ test in 2014. A test where the smart people stay far, far away.

Having said that, I still think it's great that you are giving away good stuff to would-be customers.

I have had my eye on the Sortimo foam sets for years now... I need to get my hands on some of them so see if they work as good as they look.

I like how all the facebook people are hostile and bitter. All emotional and such.

I heard a guy say yesterday that the only thing on facebook was girls and homosexuals.

Is that true??

Hello all,

I wanted to follow up on a GJ giveaway -- the boss is cool with the idea and supports a GJ members-only giveaway.

We value the opinions and feedback of the GJ community. We invite those who have and use Facebook to check us out on there. If Facebook isn't your cup of tea, we respect that too and henceforth will not initiate FB related topics on GJ.

Back to the GJ giveaway ... I am putting together some tools (Gedore, Knipex, Wiha, and Wera) and hope to have the details (and photos) posted by tomorrow evening.

After receiving our largest Wiha shipment ever today (56 boxes), I say it's time for a beer.

Cheers,

Jordan

Thanks for going to bat for us Jordan! Though it sounds like I should make a Facebook profile just to ever this contest, seems like my odds would be very good! Haha
