I got this KD Tools No. 140 in a lot of tools a few years back. It looks like a battery clamp/pick up tool to me but any searches also show possibility as a welding or auto body clamp. Just seeing if anyone has an old KD catalog or any knowledge of it. Here's a photo of two from Ebay. Thanks.s-l500.jpg

And this is why I love GJ!!

I honestly don't see how this could be used in an auto body application but perhaps back in the day it was useful. What year was this catalog from?

Hope I'm not out of place bringing this post back to life, but I just wanted to give my insight just to say that the OP was correct.
I brought alot of my archives home when we closed up our distribution center here in Maryland. (We being Easco/KD Tools aka Danaher Tool).
I have one of these 140s in my archives. If you look at these catalog pages you will see that the 140 was introduced as a battery carrier about 1958 or '59. By the time the '61 catalog supplement was published, there was a 'new use' for the tool as a 'Multi Purpose Body Clamp'. I'm going to guess that someone realized that the tool really wasn't safe to use as a battery handler.20230205_125035.jpg20230928_203929.jpg20230205_125920.jpg

Never out of place. I appreciate the additional insight into it.
