I have some K/D from when I used to work at a local auto parts store that carried them. Think Craftsman pro line and that is about what you have, pretty good stuff from what I have seen from my abuse. Never did care for thier wrenches for the simple fact they weren't polished, but I have their bigger stuff from 1 5/8 to 2 7/8 if memory serves well, I had to have the bigger stuff when I was working on equipment and wanted to spend local.

KD sockets, wrenches, and other hand tools stopped being made more than a few years ago to allow for Gearwrench's expansion. The KD auto specialty tools is still active. Where are you buying them? The reason I ask is that most online vendors use a KD part number for Gearwrench tools. Gearwrench tools although being great tools, are mostly made in China.
Old stock KD sockets are basically the same as the off the shelf Danaher made Craftsman, Allen, 2nd generation Kobalt, etc.
Keep in mind that the Apex tool group is the Chinafication of formerly US tool brands.

They are good tools, however I believe K-D recently discontinued all their nut and bolt hand tools (sockets, ratchets, extensions, wrenches). Therefore if you break it I don't see how you would get a replacement

They are just rebranded Gearwrench sockets, which are a very well made socket from China.

Just a hunch... in the case of a KD tool failure, I think Danaher Tools Group would honor KD's warranty and replace the KD tool with a similar tool from one of their other owned brands. I'm also guessing the substitution would be their choice, not yours.
