Keep old or get new cordless drill

I have an old 18v Milwaukee that needs a new battery at about 100.00 or do I get a new drill and if its new what does one get?

That said,
If you're going to go new- Go Fuel brushless and don't think twice.
But- It's almost always cheaper to keep her.

Do you have any other tools that use this same battery to ease the pain of buying a new battery?

yes it may be cheaper in the short run but if trusty goes bad then I have good batteries and a new drill to boot!

FWIW I love CORDED Milwaukee tools. I have the first gen 18V and I go so sick of buying $70 batteries. last year I went with Ridgid for the free battery replacement.
I have a **** load of Milwaukee 18V I no longer use.

That's sad to hear.
I am heavily invested in the old 18V ni-cad lineup of tools. So buying a new battery doesn't hurt too much for me.
I am also heavily invested in the new M12 line. Which I love.

I can't justify upgrading to the Fuel series at thsi time.

The battery itself costs $100? Go buy a new dealt drill at Lowes for that price. 18v and beastly.

There is some M4 screwdrivers but they're rather small and odd unless you have a real need for it.

Although they still sell batteries for their "older" lines.

So we know for a fact the OP owns ni-cad? I didn't see him say that? V18 could still be "old" and even the very first M18 could be called "old." Old is a relative term depending upon one's perspective.

And yeah, the 4V Miwaukee stuff is really oddball. I was thinking they'd abandon it but they still seem to be kinda sorta half-a** pursuing it.

I just ordered two new 14.4v 3.0AH 3000mAh NiMh Batterys off ebay for $30 ea. for my Makita drill. Not Makita brand, but if I get a couple years out of them I'll be happy.

As for my old drill the model is 0622-20 and is Ni-cad. It probably is 10 or so years old. I believe motor is still strong batteries just shot. On e-bay about 90.00 for two and free ship, don't know if they will last as long but worth a try I guess. The wife says go and get a new drill but I feel like I need to keep that thought in reserve

I just went through this with a Panasonic drill and bought 1 new battery because I wanted two for a Job I had coming up well the job came up and I smoked the drill with the new battery in the first time I used it. good luck with your decision.

This specializes in batteries; everything from button cells to car batteries. If we have one in Toledo I would think they would be everywhere. Maybe I have inadvertently stumbled upon another positive attribute of Toledo? Im up to 6 or so now, hey i'm counting with both hands .

which style 18V drill? V18? or the old original 18V? If you decide not to buy batteries I may be interested in that drill as I still have my 4 good 18V batteries that came with my Milwaukee kit I bought some years back... I did get 3 of them replaced under warranty back then but been good since

I have that line of tools and you can get the batteries for about $60 if you look hard.
The tool line you have is far better than 99 percent of the tools on the market.
There is the type of battery difference but you will not find a better built or smoother running or long lasting too in another brand. I have tried them all in my construction brand and the Milwaukee and Bosch brands are the only 2 I will buy. Everything about them is better and they are a hell of a lot better than anything Snap-on sells!

Check the serial #'s on those nicad packs.. Milwaukee had a recall on them I had 4 dead ones got 4 free shipped to the house after jumping threw a few simple hoops..
