I bought this specific reptile heater
POS lasted less than a week before being DOA. Don't waste your money.
My shop is mostly unheated (mild climate) but humidity can be a prob, so more critical stuff goes in a 30 cubic foot (dead) freezer, I put an "outhouse" porcelain socket at bottom with a 100 watt "rough service" incandescent - re-routed the power cord to the bulb, power it from one of the HF "speed" controls, set to about 50% - keeps things warm AND dry (I drilled a small hole in the top, added a little mushroom shaped cap I stole from the freezer's drain) -
Previously I'd started with 50 watt bulb, had several burn out. Since I went to the larger bulb with dimmer, same bulb has been working for over 10 YEARS.
Our relatively mild climate does freeze, just not often or real hard - so there's a couple places where I use the 250 watt IR bulbs, for those I've been using these
Seem to work pretty good,
the trick is finding IR bulbs that last at least 2% of the claimed life
Oh, and remember to put the Thermo-cube NOT where the bulb is - DAMHIKT... Steve
