This tread isn't about heating the work space, but how you keep warm while working in your shop/garage when it's cold outside.

For me, it has always been about keeping my feet warm. I use Darn Tough wool socks, but on cold concrete something more is needed.

I don't recall where I got the idea, but for the last few years, I've been using a heated mat.

It doesn't heat your legs like a space heater, rather it's like a gentle heat that keeps my feet from getting chilled while standing on the cold concrete.

It also, is great for keeping my back warm, as I lay under the car to work on it.

Layers, layers, layers. We get COLD here, garage might get to 40 with heater, and that's if I can work in the garage. Buy GOOD insulating and wicking first layer, add loose clothing after that.
Good choice on the Darn Tough, its all my wife and I wear.... lifetime warranty too, just send them back if you ever wear them out.

Good socks and shoes that breathe, but aren't too thin to keep your feet warm. It ain't always easy to find said shoes...

Moved to South Florida in the early seventies. Doesn't get cold here very often but my broken plasma TV makes a nice space heater when it does.

thermal underwear

This, plus fleece pull-overs, layers and insulated boots with heavy, lug soles. And a wool watch cap that I can pull down over my ears. Nothing loose on the outside to catch in machinery.

Park an oil-filled, portable, electric heater right near where I'm working.
