Hopefully some one can help me out on this. got a lot of money wrapped in a new crank rods, rings, gasket sets ect. looked every where I could think of , The reassembly section of the manual makes no mention of this item.
Specifically in regards to reinstalling the rod and piston assemblies.
There is no mention of the direction or orientation of the piston and rod relative to either side of the compressor base or cylinder bore .The concern is binding or seizing anything upon reassembly .
There is a post on the forum by a well known member "BurgerKong" who did a really nice write up on going completely through his Kellogg American 331TV. Wonder if I can garner some of his experience on this one

Can you tell if the piston pin is centered in the piston or offset to one side ? If it is centered then it really should not make a difference unless there is something non symetrical in the connecting rod. How about posting a couple of pictures. If the manual does not indicate a particular direction then it probably does not matter.
