Kellogg American model 335 TVX air compressor

Hey Guys,
my first time ever on/ in a forum. I recently got a Kellogg American air compressor model 335 TVX. I’m going thru it:
checking valves!the unloader, cylinders, ect.On top of the cylinders there is a 5/16 copper tube shaped like the letter U.
one end is connected, one end is not, it’s just an open fitting.Can anyone tell me what this tube is for, and ( if ) where I would connect it. Thank you in advance,
