not much progress at home lately due to finger injuries.

had a bunch of after hours work this week, so no time, but hopefully my slush fund is building up for more tools or a project :)

Got a photo from Kai on the forum with some progress of the hot wheels sign painted. Which is amazing

My washing machine of 4 years, started spitting black **** out all over our clothes, so i gave it a bit of a clean, but could not crack the 36mm nut holding the plastic drum in. a few washes with vinegar just made it worse so we went and got a new front loader.

I put the old ******* gumtree for $100 saying it needs a good clean and someone from samsung contacted me and said their was a massive recall over this unit due to catching fire, they offered me a buyback for the unit for $466, which is $66 more than i paid

Finally got the silicone out and glued these signs together, just need to find a spot for it now

My boss wanted to know if i could make up a fire pit for a good client of ours that invited him to a housewarming. Pretty happy with this for about 2 hours work. its 900 diameter and 3mm mild steel

Ken,

You sure have some cool signs you make mate! The hotwheels and the sunoco signs turned out very cool! And you did a nice (quick) job on the fire pit..and it's custom!

What is the upside down cross deal?

Its for a guy that builds choppers, he posted on instagram that it would be a hard shape to cut out. I offered to cut it for him. For $25+post I think we both got a good deal

Thanks mate!
Went with a German built Bosch. I installed one for a customer and really liked it. I love Bosch :rocker:

Ken

I like Bosch too.

When we got a new front loader, 3 years ago (I forget the brand), we took extended warranty. Thank heavens, as it's broken down and needed repairs twice in the last 6 weeks. One of the breakdowns meant a whole new main board..... Glad we took the warranty.

Oh, and those signs you're knocking out are fantastic.

Ken, thanks. Just wanted to say I can't wait. Paypal sent.

The fire pit came out very sweet. And I'm sure the new washer will be just fine. I never buy the extended warranties. If you read about it, they'll say they're a waste of money.:dunno:

Finally got some relief from the heat tonight

Got this cupboard from a football club we did a reno on at work. Typical IKEA spec, as soon as we tried to move it, it collapsed. Boss said throw it out, but its too good for that, i brought it home and put some big chipboard screws and busted out the new milwaukee 2nd fix gun and filled it with about 100 nails :)

8AA7ADA5-E6A7-4EB5-A94F-0ADD8ADB6415.jpg

started filling it with junk

Saved this one from the scrap heap as well. needed a bit of love to get the lock mechanism to work, and 2 of the hinges have busted welds. Bit of TLC and some stickers and it will come up great i think

Ken,

Nice job saving those cabinets. Looks like you'll have ALOT of storage now. And I know how you feel about not having a car loan: we haven't had one for years, and I love it!

Sorry about the job. I'm sure with your expertise in your sign making you can get a few cash jobs done until you find another job.

Update:

So i managed to sell my Navara on the friday, got the tap on the shoulder from work on the following Monday, which left me in a bit of a pickle in regards to transport. Being left with the choice of my motorbike or my 1973 Mazda 1300, I dragged the Mazda out of the carport and washed the inch of dust off.

I quickly realised this would not be a decent work vehicle. I hadnt deposited the cheque from my Navara into my loan yet, so I cashed it and set about finding something to work out of.

Jumped on a plane to Melbourne

Hello new car, hopped in this thing and cannonballed straight back to Adelaide.

Its a 2011 VW Transporter, has the 2.0L Twin Turbo Diesel motor, 7 speed DSG automatic gearbox. Really wanted a long wheel base, but I really liked the colour coded bumpers and sunroof + the fact it was never used as a work car..... until now :eyecrazy:

Ripped out the mattress that was in the back and put it to work straight away.

Had a good family friend ring up and ask about possibly making up a decorative screen to close up their Outdoor area. I said I would love to seeing as I was sitting around anyway.

Quick Rendering on the computer, they liked the tree panels I had made for someone else, and wanted a rusty look.

They made the call at 9am in the morning, had the screens cut by 2pm, and delivered and installed ready for a beer at 6pm.

Trying to keep myself busy between applying for 1000 jobs, I decided to donate some trophies to the Kustom Kulture Weekender here in Adelaide. They had a Hotrod and Kustom Showdown on the Saturday, and a Poker Run on the Sunday. The organisers were really happy and said 2-3 trophies would be greatly appreciated. 2-3 However was not going to satisfy my need to bite off more than I can chew, so I decided on 10. I had complete creative freedom, as long as there was 2 for the Poker Run.

I decided on: Best Hotrod, Best Kustom, Best Paint, Best Bike, Best Original, Toughest Ride, Peoples Choice, Sunday Best, 1st Place Poker Run, Runner up Poker run.

Had a few ideas, so just sketched up some stuff and let the plasma burn it out.
Glued it together with my tig welder
577133EF-42B3-4E16-AC52-6418BA834F6D.jpg

Went with a 6mm steel base, and the rest was used up offcuts of 2mm and 3mm steel. Was actually really good to burn up some offcuts that were going rusty.

D3659562-D8E7-424D-BBDC-DDB2EA85775A.jpg

Dropped them off at the powdercoater to get done in my favourite colour.

Then of course, I got a hired by a Construction Plumbing Firm, back to the daily grind.

Trophies back home, ready for paint. Powdercoat is a charcoal metallic. Looks bananas in the sun :eyecrazy:
