Got straight to work on the truck build trying to hunt down some doors.

After a few weeks of not much luck, I emailed a guy selling other F truck parts and he said he had 2 doors and he could send me them on a pallet. The price was high, but they don't pop up often so I took a gamble.

A few days later, they rocked up

I kind of assumed they would have had some internal parts for what I paid, but I guess thats what ya get these days.

after daily sprayings of every aerosol can of lubricant under the sun, I got to work trying to remove the hinge parts still attached to the cab... I even tried a bit of heat and got nowhere fast, broke out the whole inside of the Phillips head before I even got a degree of turn.

The drill made short work of the bolts, and the hinges where free

Got the doors in place roughly, they are just plonked in, no bolts, there may be more massaging to fit them up

Work has been super busy, we subcontract to the water company here doing burst water main repairs, they keep throwing nightshifts and overtime at me which means more coins for the truck. This was from a lovely evening at the reservoir picking up some fill.

Im not really a patient person, so I tracked down another bloke interstate, and emailed him asking if he had any f truck parts, and he said he could have a look at the farm for me.

and just like that it was on a pallet and heading my way

Starting to take shape, and what sort of other ridiculousness might you be referring to? Also out of curiousity when building an older vehicle like that in Australia if you use a new or newer engine does it have to be smog checked? If so what year smog limits does it have to meet?

You have posted more than you posted over on Instagram. Be aware the doors may never fit 100% as they never did from the factory.

Yeah I’m not expecting perfect panel gaps, but the door is physically bigger than the opening, im guessing the hinges on the new doors are bent and don’t close tight enough.

Probably some description of LS and t56. I had thought about a jerico :eyecrazy:

We don’t do that smog stuff, we are way more strict on registration though, I will probably have to pay around 5k for an engineer to look over and sign off on everything. The regulations go from the chassis / engine, I basically just have to run a Cat.

The downcast version lights the area below and looks much better than the sconce version.

Thanks mate, makes a huge difference I wish I got a before photo
Kenfab awesome..:thumbup::thumbup:

You will never make the gaps perfect without throwing a lot of cash at it.
As for the hinges I would think you would be correct. If you are making a sub frame to mount the cab to the different chassis you may fix some of this.

Great to hear, I don't have to worry about anything smog related either, which really simplifies things. I'd gladly sign off on your truck for 5k, heck I'd do it for .5k. I don't think they would take my signature though sadly. :( Looking forward to more progress.

I question that. If the front guards (fenders) are wider than the F-1 you have then it is F-7 F-8. If not then it is an F-4. It does look to be a Canadian based - Australian Ford going on the park light location. Is it Inline 6 or Sidevalve V8?

As for the tow rig send an email to the President or Secretary of the https://www.hcvc.com.au/ and see what they tell you.

Guards are wider as is the grille as you can see in the photos, grille extends past the Center section where the ford badge is. It’s a flathead v8 with a 4 speed.
