So I picked up this box cheap and it's in great shape except a couple things. I need a front cover and ill have to convert it back to a proper lock. The one on is a Kennedy though.

My main issue is the felt in the drawers is in rough shape. What's the best way to replace that? Or should I just get foam or rubber inserts?

Never messed with one but I bet that felt is stuck on their good. I would lay some liner over the top of it. Looks like a nice box,to bad the cover is gone.

The square corners indicate a really early production.

Post a WTB in the classifieds. Someone somewhere has a cover. It most likely won't be the correct early cover, but it will fit.

FWIW, all my boxes have covers, but I seldom to never use them in a home shop. If I'm gone on vacation, I may lock up everything, just to generate some anti-theft kharma.

I'm sure I won't very often either but I'd like to be able to when I want
