Good evening all,
New member here. Great site. Does anyone have any idea where one can get parts for obsolete Kennedy boxes? I have one where I need a drawer. It is for a 3407X model

It's doubtful the drawer was ever available from Kennedy, but if it was, based upon what Kenney asks for small parts, such as a lock, the cost would have been more than you paid for the box.

What ***** is the box was my Dad's. He had a bunch of the them when he passed. This one in particular was his retirement gift from the paper mill he was a machinist for. Sure would like to get that one drawer to make it complete.
He is actually the one who ripped the drawer and it was tossed out.

If you have an equivalent drawer, you could take it to a sheet-metal-shop and have them press out & spot weld one for you. A good shop could fab one from steel, stainless, aluminum, copper, brass, or whatever you wanted. Might not be able to get an exact match to the original color (especially if it was the wrinkle finish), but that would only add to the replacement drawer's charm IMHO.

Put a saved search on Ebay and it will email you once a day of new listings that fit your search criteria. But that is a somewhat rare Kennedy tool box width so finding a used replacement is probably going to take a while.

Might not yield anything, but may be worth posting here the specifics of the drawer you need. For example, i have a kennedy box that isn't special to me, and I'd let it go for enough to replace it, if it helped you fill the missing piece. Maybe someone has a spare from a box with other damage!

I have a damaged box where the top lid is missing. But it’s only 9” deep. Saving the parts for friends w boxes closer to nice

Thank you! I will look around and see we have something here.

Don't rule out making your own. It is after all just a "U" shape with capped ends. Both could be formed between angle irons and hardwood block forms, if no brake is available.

The Snap-on drawer pictured is a little more intricate but illustrates the idea. It is the one I need to make...someday.

The outer slide "C" section can be formed too.

You are making a one off, not setting up a production line.

A quick search indicates the 3407X to be a 34" wide 7-drawer roller cabinet with a 3-3-1 configuration. Which drawer are you trying to replace?

Good one lilredex, that is just what was going through my head. Even if you can't make it look perfect it will look better than no drawer and will do until you find the proper one.
