I bought myself an early xmas present. I was cruising kijiji and found an ad for " machinists tools and boxes ". I answered and got the call to go look at them. The boxes themselves are nothing too great but it is filled with tools from the PO begining in the tool and die trade ~ 30 years ago. He told me that he was tired of lugging them around as he hadn't used them for many years, and he was about to move yet again. I paid $100.00 and didn't need to look any further after he opened the first two drawers. On with some pics;

This is about 1/2 of what's in the boxes. I'm pretty happy :willy_nil There are lots of tools that I don't know the use of but I haven't finished researching yet.

I'm just shaking my head. You break even on any one drawer, the rest is free tools, and the boxes aren't bad either. Either congratulations or you ****, but they might mean the same thing.

Man I'm jealous. A surface gauge and depth mic are on my short list of tools for work and there they are along with a mountain of other tools. I hope I can find a deal like that.

Wow! What a deal. Do you do any machining?

Not since high school 30 years ago. And I have no garage either since losing my rental space several months ago. My plans are to sell some of the tools and put the money into a land aquisition fund. If any one is interested in the consumables I'd be happy to consider a fair offer. I believe you can access 3 pages of pics here; https://imageshack.com/a/oVFz/3

Around here, the top box would cost you $100 empty. The bottom roller, more.
On those alone = you ****.

With tools = YOU ****, BIGTIME !

It was a good deal, but too bad they didn't go to someone that really needed and could have used them.

I've picked up lots before, learned what a tool was, then learned to use it. Half the time you think, "Damn, this makes it so easy!"

And someone that needed them should've been looking on Kijiji working at it harder than everybody else.

I just looked through all the pics.........Holy ****. I'm speechless. A digimatic indicator? Are you ******* kidding me? That's like $400 right there! Angle plate, vee blocks, magnetic parallels, needle files, rad gages, surface gage, 12" dial calipers. That's like $1000 in the few items I just mentioned. You utterly robbed that guy. Sooooooo many of those tools are on my list to buy as I complete my apprenticeship.

I understand your feelings as I share them. I would trade all those tools and more to have my health back. The reason I was able to find this deal is because I have time to look as I can't work a fulltime job, my knees are bone on bone and arthritus is catching me on my other joints. I've never been good at desk work and don't have the wherewithal to learn now. However I hope that this will help me toward a down payment on a piece of land so I can work at my own pace on money making projects. I have the skills and tools but....
