Actually, I really have no idea how old it is.
It is thick and heavy though. Really really well built.

New ones cost a fortune from kennedy

Yes it does.
The latch has been repaired at some point (see picture)
But when I was using this box, I had it loaded so heavy that it took two people with a pipe through the handle to carry it. And I never had any trouble with it.
