When my grandpa passed a few years ago I inherited all the tools he had left. He had given my dad most of his power tools by then so it was mostly hand tools left. Later in life he was notorious for buying the wholesale Chinese made junk tools from hf or similar stores. I cherish the older stuff he has though and it was a pleasure going through the piles of junk and finding old quality items. One was this Kennedy box. It was buried under a pile of junk and had probably sat empty since before I was born. Is there any way to date this box? It has an information plate my grandpa added with his name and address. I know from the address the box is older than the 70s. Thanks for reading.

I don't think it is any older than early 60's. I got a 1018 from '64 and it does not have any logo like the one yours has, but it was for a government contract so I cannot be sure.

Reviving an old thread slightly, but was in my local tool shop today. They have been discounting stock they hadn't sold. Some of it has been there for decades, bought a leatherman supertool 200 that was manufactured 13 years ago this month.
But now why I posted here, bought one of these tool boxes as well today. cs-16, for €15. They are such a well made box. No idea yet what I will use it for. But couldn't pass it up. While it is new, it is a little dinged at the corners, it's in good condition overall.
Am happy today! :)

I love the Kennedy CS-16 and CS-19 boxes. The sliding tray is a great alternative to the typical trays you have to remove completely and put down somewhere if you want to dig through the bottom. It's a shame they discontinued production of them, and they're a bit rare to find, especially in good shape.

€15 is a great price for one I'd say. I think it would make a great "around the house" toolbox for your most used small hand tools, or something along those lines.

Mid to late 60s even. I had one from that vintage.
