Picked up this Kennedy cs-19 toolbox at an auction for $8.50 yesterday. I've seen these tool boxes before online but never thought much of them until I got this one in my hands. I love it. Just look at how the sheet metal is folded on the sides. I could stand on this thing and not crush it. I really like the thoughtful design of the upper tray and lid. The "cantilever swing" (hence CS) allows great access to the lower compartment when open and acts as a tight lid for the tray when closed. And who doesn't like corner irons on the bottom of a toolbox?
Funny thing is, this wasn't the main thing I was after in the auction. I'm getting ready to restore a Green-Case Company machinist tool box and I needed the excelsior latch off of an old steamer trunk in the auction. I got that trunk loaded with cool brass hardware and the latch I needed for only $10. Anyway, needed to share with someone who would understand my excitement. Thanks for reading!
