I am on the market to upgrade from my Costco CSPS 41" stainless tool box and have been keeping a close eye on Craigslist as well as entertaining the Extreme Tools 56" new from supporting vendors.

While watching Craigslist I have an eye on a Kennedy Maintenance Pro 53" wide, 60" tall, 18" deep with 20 ball bearing drawers and a side cabinet with slide out ball bearing shelves. The box is listed as brand new and from the pictures it appears to be never used as noted and the price keeps going down currently at $2250 obo.

I had a really old Kennedy years ago I passed onto a family member but have zero experience with the newer products. Anyone have hands on with this box? I searched and came up empty which is sort of steering me away at this point. A lot of comments were made this is a machinest type oriented company when it comes to boxes. This will be loaded with tools for home use car building and will be my last box I ever purchase is the plan.

Believe the extreme is at $1900 shipped but I am leery still of it since I only see a few reviews from actual owners of the 56". $2k isn't a ton of money but it is a lot relative to me so I don't want to have to purchase twice. Just looking for input I know a lot of you guys are really well versed in these rollers.

The difference between 18" deep and a truck brand 24" deep is substantial in practical what fits use. Taller vs wider depends on your garage space. I've got a tall (2 piece) Craftsman box, and I miss the work surface I had before adding the intermediate box.

Unless the price was a LOT flexible, I think I would skip it.

Given that the listing you're referring to is for the bottom and top plus a side locker, I'd definitely go look at it. The Kennedy maintenance boxes are very nice for the price, I wouldn't hesitate to pick up that combo if it fits your needs and is in good shape.

I believe that color isn't currently offered. Makes me wonder if it's been refinished or if it was custom ordered. Kennedy offers red on many cabinets, but I haven't seen a part number for any of the Maintenance Pro stuff in red.

EDIT: nevermind, 5300MPR (red) and 5302MPR (red) are available.

Thanks guys. I will keep an eye on it. Guy called me and really sounded anxious to unload this box. Told him I would pass for now I won't have time to look at it for a few days and I don't have the means to haul it. Cheap enough I will rent a truck from home depot if need be.
