I could use a box like this to lug around in the car. Is it worth the bucks?

I own one also. I like being able to put smaller items on the top and bigger ones in the middle of the box. It helps keep everything organize and easily accessible. But I don't think it's worth $100. They go for cheap used.

Great boxes. I have a couple 1022's ,a 1018, and a 1017.
I think they are great boxes. If they come up on Craigslist around here they
don't last long listed at $50 if they are in good shape. New for a $100 is a good price.
One little bit of advice: these boxes are well organized and you can easily get more into them than is comfortable to lift /carry.The box can handle the weight,my back can't.

Agree that they're cheap used, because they're relatively plentiful. Can be very heavy when fully loaded.

Most of the used one I see are pretty ugly inside in the bottom. Decades of tools bouncing around inside is hell on the paint.

I have one and it is heavy even before you put the tools in it. But as others mentioned it is bulletproof. Fortunately I rarely have to carry mine.

I picked mine up for $10. Bad repaint on the outside, but great inside. As others have said - heavy even empty.

I got mines from the flea market for $8 last summer. And yes as everyone says they can get heavy very quick.
