Got these 2 locally on CL from an old retired machinist, along with a bunch of end mills and tooling I don’t need. I think it’s a 520 and 526?
25$ each for the tool boxes,in great condition. Any way to tell a manufacturer date? Late 70s maybe?

I have the big brother to the one on the right - instead of 2 bottom drawers it has 3, and then 4 smaller drawers on the right upper. It’s a 52611. They are great boxes - you will like yours. And $25 is a steal. :)

The one to the right is a 526 for sure. I got the exact same one from a guy I work with for $50 about 2 weeks ago and it is in the exact same shape as yours. I may have gotten a good deal, but you sir got a great deal in my opinion.

Finally! I got a “you ****” THANKS!

Good for you for avoiding self suckage. Haha. Seriously though for $50 I’m jealous.

Now if you look at the slides and they’re removable you can even replace them with ball bearing depending on vintage.

That's major suckage on those.

along with a bunch of end mills and tooling I don’t need.

Since I'm such a nice guy, I'll do you the favor of helping get all that junk out of the drawers of your new boxes. Just put it in a USPS Flat Rate Box and send it my way.

Thanks for the generous offer. Lol. What I meant by that was , just like most of you guys, I can’t pass up a good deal. The guy had tons of quality end mills...so I bought them just because. I don’t think I’ll ever need to buy anymore, but will see.
I spent this morning moving ALL my milling machine tools, bits, etc into there new home. I cleared out an old Snap On roller cart I’ve had for over 30 years. Both Kennedy’s fit perfectly! So those 2 boxes are now dedicated to the milling machine. My old wood Ehlertbilt machinist box can now store all my stuff for the Southbend lathe.

I have the same box as the one on the left from my StepFather. If I remember correctly He bought it in the late 60's early 70's. Those boxes are heavy!

Nice score - too bad they're missing the front covers, but if like mine they're just going to sit by a drill press, no problem.
If you need to carry them around, front covers are stilll available new from Kennedy - at least for the 7-drawer. I checked a while back and they were about $35.

edit:

wait... In the last pix, on the cart, it looks like the covers are there. If so, that takes it far beyond merely a "nice" score!!

Front covers on both boxes are there, just folded down in pictures. No keys though, trying to source those right now.

Was able to order 2 new keys for the boxes, just because... Refurbished the 30 year old Snap On cart because the boxes fit so nicely in it. Was able to match the paint damn near perfect! Enjoy.

Shouldn't be much of a problem - local locksmith - the one you've used several times before - hmm?

Take the cylinders in, with that kind of lock easy for any pro.

EasyKeys is a good source, but as your friendly neighborhood locksmith I would prefer someone come to us first :)

I did consider that, but was wondering if my local locksmith could match the proper key blanks from the 70s? I paid 17$ and change for 2 keys ...not sure if that’s good or not?

We charge 6.75 for a single sided code key which covers most file cabinets.
The shop I work at has been in business since 1964. There is not much we don't have blanks for!
