Saw a guy at the flea market this morning with a Kennedy tackle box of all things. Looked to be in good shape, but looked 40+ years old. Only wanted a few bucks for it and would have purchased, but had already spent my funds. Never seen a Kennedy tackle box before. Had some tackle in it too. Wasn't brown, but had the same Kennedy pebble-type finish.

If he's back next week, I'll have a little more to spend and will purchase. The tackle in it was probably worth more than the money he was asking.

Just because it had tackle in it doesn't make it a tackle box. Or does it?? lol

It had an original label that said: Tackle Box by Kennedy Manf. Co., Van something or other, Ohio.

I DID NOT assume that this was a tackle box just because it had tackle in it. I'm meeting a guy at my house this morning to work on my roof. Once he shows up and gets started, I'll try to go back and see if it's still there. I've got a $10 bill hidden away that my wife knows nothing about, so I might purchase if I can.

If you buy a tackle box, you have to go fishing, and then you might not have enough time left over to work in your garage. :)

These sell for quite a bit of money on eBay, FYI... Seems to be quite a market for vintage fishing tackle, tackle boxes, and other related equipment.

I'm afraid I don't fish anymore. That used to be something I did with my Grandfather and after he died, it didn't seem right going without him. I also HATED eating the fish we caught, cause freshwater fish (other than catfish) to me tastes like ca ca.

Any sort of shellfish, on the other hand is a different story. Red Lobster is running all you can eat shrimp right now, and I think they're going to ban me if I show up again.

I've got one of those that I picked up at auction with a bunch of other tool boxes. The one I have has all of the little compartments lined in cork. Don't know if it came that way or of someone added that. It's on my list of boxes to clean up.

Here is mine. Found it last week.
It was empty but, while cleaning it a rusty fish hook fell out.

It was lined with cork, and painted silver, but you can see Kennedy brown showing through.

I believe it to be Kennedy 1018, configured as a tackle box.

Thanks.

Ok, I went back to flea market and purchased. Along with the photos, I'm going to post a big apology. As you'll see, it DOES NOT say "tackle box" on the original label, as I had originally claimed. I DO however feel positive this was sold as a tackle box, and not for tools.

Got the whole shebang for $2. Which I thought was a pretty good deal.

Back in the 60's we used to have something called a TV repairman, and they would have a toolbox like that filled with boxes of tubes. From time to time they still show up at hamfests (amateur radio).

Yo, you mentioned you had a Kennedy box with cork lined trays. Is it the six tray hip roof box? I had one growing up and would love to have another for sentimental reasons. Would you consider selling it. Would pictures be available.
