I picked up a Kennedy Tool Box / machinist box from an estate sale for $20. It had been an Air Force box and painted over with AF Blue. That was cool as it had all sorts of stencilled markings. Unfortunately someone had then painted it over with Ford engine blue. The paint was in poor condition with several areas with bare metal. This box needed a paint job.

I could have painted it the original Kennedy grey by getting some of the original paint. But, as much as people may hate me for it, I don't like that color for a tool box. I got a nice glossy semi-metallic black that worked out really well for my needs. I left the drawers in the original grey as the contrast was nice. There is still some blue overspray inside the lid, but I might be able to get that off with polish as it's just overspray.

Anyways, it's still a Kennedy box, it's intact, and I'll be using it for model railroading tools at the hobby bench. $20 for the box and $5 in paint makes for a nice hobby tool box.

Nice job and nice color combination! At $20, that box was a steal. You did well on your investment in time, effort and dollars.
