Hope this hasn't been asked before, if so sorry.

Guys! Please school me on how to tell the age of a Kennedy toolbox. I'm mainly interested in the hand held boxes. Thanks in advance!:dunno:

I have a cantilever one I bought 6 years ago for onsite service work. Its heavy empty and at the time I had more hard tools in it than you could imagine. Help up very well. The finish is durable. The hardware felt a little light duty - not cheesy - just light duty. I use it now to store all my SAE size stuff because I haven't come across a SAE fastener in 3 years.

You might e-mail Kennedy and ask them http://www.kennedymfg.com/Kennedy/ I know that their machinist boxes never changed over the years, then they went from a felt lined drawer to a plastic insert that was flocked. Other than that I don't think there is a year stamped anywhere. I've had quite a few Kennedy's over the years and never could tell a distinguishable difference

The older machinist chests had square tops and Excelsior locks on the hasp rather than the cam locks used later. I sold a square top about a year ago, but I couldn't say when Kennedy made the change.

Thanks, I picked up a Kennedy the other day. The only markings that I could see easily was the "Kennedy" name scribed on the top, kinda reminds you of how someone would sign something using only the last name.
