Kennedy toolchest

I picked up a vintage kennedy toolchest today. Not sure if I over paid for it, but it's a nice box. I paid 500 and it's in really good shape. Probably from the late 80's. Style number 52611-938588 is the top box. What do you think?

Kennedy triple-stack for $500 is a fair price, just not a steal.

They're sturdy and parts are always available. The top box is considered a machinist's, because of more small drawers and the large center drawer sized to hold the Machinist's Handbook.

I've used the top and mid box for forty years and it still works for me.

Three boxes, good shape with the accessory side tray, and all drawers on the rolling chest. I'd say you did quite good.

That box will last you a lifetime.

I think you did alright. The 52611 is indeed a machinists box, and is one of their best. I find that one to be pretty uncommon too.

The mid riser boxes don`t come along very often. The only issue with the Kennedy bottom box is if you load them up & roll them around a lot, I.E. in a hangar, they can crack in the front upper corners. The Waterloo boxes have the same issue. For home use that setup will work well. I have the hammered silver Kennedy top & mid riser on a Proto bottom right next to my mill & use it almost daily

That stack in a job shop machine shop would have been the hot ticket 40-50 years ago!

The 52611 is almost $500 alone new. I'd say you did quite well as a machinist stack.
