Clean the spark plug and check fuel pressure.
Being a Craftsman... assuming it's older and has spark plug. Newer torpedo heaters have a glow plug.

Also clean the filters on the rear of the motor/fuel pump.

I had One that required periodic oil to the motor shafts. Would not spin fast enough at times.

Assuming this is a torpedo heater. Is the air filter clean? Is the nozzle clean? Is the fuel fresh?
Kerosene that's been sitting around will oxidize and pick up water that cause issues at the nozzle.
