Mr heater sells a quiet version for more money. I have the 30-60k version. Still not perfect but not nearly as loud as my old one.

I didn’t fully read your question therefor my response below doesn’t apply but I’ll leave it in case it helps anyone else..... carry on

I use a wick style without a blower. Strictly radiant in my full two car garage. It will take longer to warm the space thoroughly than one with a blower but it makes zero noise, doesn’t have a cord, and can be moved anywhere.

I bought it at a thrift store for $10.

Toyotomi makes an excellent kero DV.

I've got a Monitor heater in my garage. I could not be happier with it. No fumes (it is sealed combustion), and its pretty quiet. Just a little fan noise.

However, any vented heater will be less efficient than a non-vented heater. Non vented heaters are already 100% efficient, so, asking for something more efficient is not the right question.

My suggestion, is if you really want to stick to a non-vented heater, look at the radiant catalytic models. Something like a Val-6.

Be advised that Monitor has been out of business for 10-12 yrs now and parts are becoming tough to get.
