Great looking building! I cant wait to see what you plan on doing for the inside. Keep up the great work.
Very nice garage you have. I was wondering do you have dimension/blue-prints of the garage. Thinking I might build something like this when I get ready. Thanks
Hey I just stumbled on this. I have been watching this build as I pass every Saturday on the way to my car club in Greentown. Killer shop man. Very nice build.
Here you go.
Thanks, I was curious to see if you but a horizontal trim piece at the eave line and cut your metal on the gambrel end.
How long were the center pieces of tin?
Watch that first step... it's a looloo!

The longes pieces were around 22' long. I actually ended up putting them up in 2 pieces overlapped by about 6". With the door and trim, there was only about 12" of siding left and I was nervous about kinking it. Without the door, it would have been manageable with 2 people though.
Yeah, that first step is a little rough. I'm hoping to build a deck and stairs eventually. I think it will make a neat place to look out and watch the corn grow. Unfortunately, that will have to wait a few years.
Cool old '46? Chevrolet HD flatbed truck...is that yours'? I'm looking for a similar one with a tilt bed to haul heavy equipment, etc. This afternoon I got 5 windows framed and 4' of sheathing around 3 sides. I had a little miscalculation on my window framing and ended up adding some additional studs because I originally put the kings in the wrong place. Oh well, $10 worth of wood. It started to rain just as I was getting the last piece up and gave me enough time to get my tools put away.
I'm hoping to get the rest of the sheathing and the housewrap up this week. I have some other stuff going on next weekend and may not have much time for the build. Trusses and LVLs are scheduled to come sometime next week and the plan is to rent some equipment and set trusses over Memorial Day weekend.

The 4x6s that I use out front of my garage have bowed and twisted as they have dried. I think the only possible way to keep them straight is to clamp them to a steel I beam and let them dry for a few months.
Thanks for sharing, very nice building and nice garage. Very interesting how you combined the gambrel roof and regular gable roof. What made you consider that design?
Maybe I just missed it but what was the width or span of your trusses, it looks like you were able to get 16' width in the attic, which is really nice and spacious. Also with the kickout on the eaves did you just frame those onto the trusses, what was the pitch of the kickout if you don't mind me asking.
Nice progress and update. One big mistake I made was not having the walls painted before I started moving stuff in.

Kert, man you're slacking ! or waiting on winter to roll back around to do the inside work ?
I must say that you have some nice equipment going in there.![]()
Hey now. I've wired, insulated, drywalled, mudded, painted inside, and installed lights this spring/summer.
I'll admit I haven't been spending as much time on GJ. These things seem to go in cycles.
I got the lift installed yesterday. Unfortunately, I seemed to have lost the hydraulic hose in transport so I haven't been able to test it. I asked my dad to check his warehouse (where the lift was previously), but that's a needle in a haystack. I'll try to get some pics of the lift this week once I get things cleaned up a little bit.

Wow Kert, very nice build! The siding looks perfect.
