Ok i know this sounds a bit off garage topic, but really its not. We order out a bunch while working on the garage or cars and never have any condiments out there, i do have a frig but really hate to put ice cold ketchup on a nice hot meal. and not sure i wanna microwave it all the time either, so the question is can heinz ketchup stay GOOD if opened and at room temp. I know what the bottle says refrigerate for best results after opening, but every diner i see has them out all day only to return around midnight to the frig than back out around 5am. any food gurus out there know the answer?

I grew up eating it out of the cupboard. At work I hide it in a cupboard and not the fridge, otherwise it's gone in a day.

Probably preserved with all the salt they put in it. Buy smaller bottles so it doesn't sit around for a long time.

Chick-fil-a has these dip & squeeze containers at their restaurants in the condiment bins. They would be a good solution to the OP's dilemma!

Decades ago, when I worked in a restaurant, we never refrigerated at night. The bottles probably lasted a week or two before being used up. Buy some small bottles, and not a 64oz club size and you should be OK.
I did have some balsamic salad dressing in my desk drawer for a month or so, and it was fermented by the time I finished it off. made lunch fun.

Just grab some condiments in packets every time you hit the fast food place and build a stock pile.

As a self-described 'ketchup connisour', I can state with some authority that it's OK not to refrigerate your ketchup. The only proviso would be to refrigerate it if the temperature gets above 80 or so in the garage - like in the summer. Common sense.
Restaurants don't refridgerate their ketchup bottles that are on the tables. They just refill them when they get low or replace them if they are glass bottles. I grew up with our ketchup in the fridge, so it's just a form of habit.

Either use the freebies or take one can of beer out of your garage beer fridge and put it in there. Better still, ditch the kiddy condiment and use HP Brown Sauce for Real Men!

We have always kept it in the kitchen cabinet. I think it has more flavor at room temp. My sweet mother-in-law even keeps a bottle in the cabinet just for when we come over to eat..

I worked at a local burger joint about 30 years ago. We left the bottles of ketchup on the tables 24/7. Every night we would go to each table and refill the glass heinz ketchup bottles with bulk ketchup that was purchased in one gallon cans. The restaurant is still open today and the ketchup at the bottom of the bottles may have been put there by me decades ago.
