I almost forgot....I had the opportunity to meet a fellow member yesterday. I am bad with names, but his first name is Chris, and he hails from Florida, and he was up for his brothers wedding. He drove by and recognized the garage and decided to stop in for an intro.

I just wish I had more time at the moment to sit and properly chat, but he was on a mission, and I was in the middle of cutting siding. We did get to chat for a few though.

Have you got a chance to set up and use the inversion table yet?

Not yet until my mouth gets healed up from having the implant removed and repositioned. Another couple of weeks I suppose.

Kevin, congrats on the progress on the addition in the last few weeks that I have missed.

Eric, It's coming along now. We have to pre-stain the rest of the siding tomorrow before it gets hung. All of the walls are done except for the front, and for the wall on the neighbors side. Garage doors come Monday. We did the back wall today and the gable end on the side towards our house. Once all of the siding is on, then it is going to all get stained again to make things all uniform. It sure makes the property look different with having cedar on the garage to match the house. We fought the darn weather from the get go, but we got things done.:rocker: I'd say 2 more days, and all of the siding and trim will be completed. Hopefully by Friday afternoon. then I can concentrate on the inside.

The pics are from today, but before we had the gable end finished up

This is what's done, and what we have left to do tomorrow. And ALL of the boards are now pre-stained :rocker: Ashton and I just finished up a little while ago.

And a couple of shots of what I started with a few months ago

GREAT !

I know that you have lots to do inside, but getting the outside done was one of your big goals ! :rocker:

It wasn't too long ago that you said that you hoped to have it done before Labor Day. Done early !!

It seems as though you have had to battle everything on the project! You are making it toward the finish line on finishing the outside. Great job and I really like that dark stained ceder siding.

Kevin: looks like everything is coming together. nice progress and happy to see it's getting done with the outside. is the pad behind your bump out for a propane tank or were you thinking of putting a compressor there and making a little shed to keep it out of the weather?

congrats and well done

That is awesome looking!
So how soon till you start putting your equipment in there?

I'll be getting a lift here next month. Other than that, not much in the way of equipment going in there as everything is in the other part of the garage. I want to keep that area clean and clutter free.

Thanks. I like the dark stain. We have thought a few times on changing the color, but the landscaping tends to pop a little more against the dark background. At least in momma's eyes it does.

The pad is for the propane tanks. I can't have a 250 gallon, but I'm allowed to piggyback two 120's. One propane tank will be for the old part of the garage, and I am going to buy another heater and the other propane tank will feed it. My air compressor is staying in the old part of the garage for the time being.

Kevin: i saw your post where you mentioned you couldn't have a bigger tank, but could have 2 smaller ones that might have more volume. another great rule in the books that needs to be fixed. in any case it sounds like you have it figured out.

keep up the great work

This is the classic "You can pay me now, or you can pay me later."

Have you looked into a mini-split heat pump with 2 evaporators ? Pay back for heating will be a very long time and I would keep the first heater and tank as a back up for below zero days. The big bonus would be A/C in summer !

Not done yet. We had planned on being finished up today but ran out of cedar siding for one gable end that is above the bumpout. I've figured up materials so close on things that we have not had any scrap at all other than a couple of 2x8's that were about 4' long, one or two 2x6's, and just a few small pieces of OSB, and a few **** cuts off of the cedar siding, and the wasted angle cuts from doing the gable ends. All in all, not even a small pickup load of scrap ends. Not too bad for a rookie.

So Monday or Tuesday we will finish up the gable, and the fascia, then I can get the gutter guy down to have new gutters hung. Garage doors come Monday morning. Then all that is left, aside from the inside work, is me staining everything one more time since it is now up on the walls. Momma's after me to get the topsoil down so we can get the grass going and the flowerbed put in. That will probably be next week if I get the gutters up. I don't want to stain until the gutters due to water running off of the roof and splashing in the dirt and up on the walls.

So basically another week to wrap things up I think. I'll try to get some pics later.

I wouldn't plant grass seed until the day time temps are consistently below 75-80F. I helping my son do some landscaping including seeding about 1/2 of his yard. Probably not going to plant until mid-September.

My magic ingredient is an unlimited supply of composted horse manure ! My good friend's wife has 2.5 horses (one is a mini). It is composted so there is no smell.

I usually don't have a hard time getting grass going as long as I keep it watered. And the area where I need to plant the grass has either had good topsoil already, or I will be putting some topsoil down. By the time I get my gutters up though, it will be close to the middle of September anyways. And that is not too far away either :( I love Fall, but I hate what follows

Pics later, but garage doors are up. It took two guys a grand total of 1:45 minutes from start to finish and pulling out of the drive. Heck, I'd be looking at two days probably to put both doors up. The doors are Raynor Buildmark, insulated, and an "R" rating of almost 7. Nothing special about the doors though as they are just your common stamped raised panel doors with windows in the top panel. $1900 for both 10'w x 8't doors installed.

It took me about 4 hours just to install one opener the first time I tired, and don't know that I would get into hanging a door with the coil spring and everything. That is amazing, so now the outside is all but done other than a one more coat of stain, or do you have a few boards yet to hang?

All done on the outside except for staining......well, and landscaping to keep momma happy, but I have to get my gutters first. But as far as I'm concerned, it is done. I can't believe it took three months, but then again, there were two months of rain involved also.

I'm going to give the guy a call about gutters here in a short, then start moving my pile of dirt around to get the outside cleaned up. Then I have to get the inside of the garage cleaned up somewhat just to make a mess again for when I start on the inside.

What an awesome job and in the end it seemed to go really well in spite of everyone of the trials and tribulations.

I turned out so cool. Thank you for sharing.

Very nicely done. Did I miss your plan for the little cmenet pad behind the bump out? Now that you're pretty much done, I don't mind if you stopped by for a couple of weeks to help me build a shed for SWMBO.:lol_hitti
