Hello

I just picked this full box from the son of a retired mechanic.

The key barrel is loose, is there way I can tighten this as it doesn't appear to have any access when I remove the top drawer

Thanks
Paul

that's a common "cam lock" , there has to be a way to get to the backside to tighten the nut or replace the spring clip ( 2 ways they mount)
you'll have to remove the top drawer to gain access . there might be a shield over the lock or something, but it will be accessible

If you want to be able to lock it and don't have its key, your local locksmith will have a replacement for not much $ and it comes w/a variety of clasps. They fit common configurations, or you may find yours rattling around in one of the drawers or in the bottom.

Have you pulled more drawers to see if it is accessible from the bottom? Can you turn the lockset from the outside to try to tighten it up or is keyed to the frame?
