HI, I am trying to find a key cutting machine so that we can finally start cutting the key blanks that we have been selling at work. It just needs to cut standard flat keys, nothing like the fancy automotive keys. There is nothing for sale locally. Any ideas?

Try a WTB ad in a few places, Craigslist etc.

Are you just cutting one type of blank, and not duplicating a key? If so I would be tempted to build something.

Also with brass key blanks, not steel, you can buy a gun type thing as used by car dealers to bite out a new key using codes, not duping.

I'm in Manitoba Canada. I'm sure its fine here. Reason I need it is to cut RV keys. None of the local places stock them, exact for us (the RV dealer) so we currently sell the blanks and people have to go get them cut elsewhere.

If you're having trouble finding one locally, I'd just bypass the hassle and buy online. A quick google search for "key cutting machine" turned up a few results.

I bought mine from a hardware store that closed.
You can find them on craigslist regularly. You might also be able to get an account with a locksmith wholesaler and buy a brand new machine.

Typical! I scrapped one of those machines a couple of years ago!

It was missing a couple of parts and was going to cost as much to replace them as I was likely to get for the machine!

Go to any of the places that supply the key blanks and they will supply you the machine too! They are not as expensive as you think to buy! (At least not here inthe U.K.)

I've got one that I'd like to sell, but shipping to Canada would likely be rough.
