I was wondering what everyone uses for key storage in their garage.

In the garage, I use a professionally made key storage box with an unlocked door. In my home, where I keep important keys, I have a professionally made locked storage box that is of much better quality and heavier steel. It could be broken into, but it will take a lot more effort. click here for some pictures on a website.

Heh, A locked key box?? On the other end of the scale, I keep most of mine in a jar in the bedroom. Now that our house is for sale, we had to figure out which ones fit which doors.

Unless I have a car that doesn't run in the garage the keys to them DO NOT stay in the garage. Something about leaving the keys in the exact same room as the car they start doesn't leave me warm and fuzzy.

Good idea! When I owned my repair shop, I used to keep keys on a key board in the office. When I was burglarized, the thieves stole all the customers car keys and used a running car to make off with about $10,000 (1980 dollars) worth of my tools.

I do the same, no point in making it any easier for the bastards.

A shop that I worked in had a bathroom with a locking steel door where the key board and the cash box went every night.

I have 2x6 thick walls and two feet from one OH door to the inside corner. In that two feet I inset a key box with a homemade cover that is the same material and color as the walls. I doubt than anyone would ever find it, as it blends in.
