I know this is a garage forum not a kit car forum. However, since everyone here is a car enthusiast, I thought maybe I can get some good opinions.

I would like to start a kit car project. I would prefer a 4 seater, something that can grow into a daily driver. I live in the northern Ohio and it snows quite a bit so I am looking for a hard top, not a convertible. I like the looks of 30's and 40's cars.

Do you all have a recommendation of a place to look for such a kit, or any forums where people discuss such projects?

Thanks in advance.

Pick up a copy of kit car magazine.

There are a lot of street rod body manufacturers out there but they aren't "kit" cars per say... they will sell you a body/frame or even a roller... the rest is up to you.

www.acautos.com comes close to being a kit car manufacturer.

Just a hint... this deal ain't cheap.

It seems to take awhile to get all the bugs worked out of the kit cars which would keep me from having one as my only DD. Most are two seats as they are based off of racing cars.

If you are still interested, the company FFR seems to be one of the more popular and more info can be found @ ffcobra.com. There is the London Cobra Show in London, OH in June if you like the style of the Cobra. APE makes a removable hardtop for it and there is a softtop too. They are RWD and very light which will **** in snow. Fran @ RCR makes some very nice replicas of GT40's, P4, 917, etc. which can be found @ http://www.race-car-replicas.com. He is based out of the Detroit area if you want to see them up close.

Using donor parts for the FFR, people can come in around $20-25k if they do the bodywork themselves. Using all new parts can put it north of $50k easily. RCR's line start around $40k and it seems like they end up costing quite a bit more.

EDIT: Wow... member for 3 years and this is my first post. Talk about lurking for awhile...
