Home Depot has carried these Husky bucket liners for awhile. I picked one up yesterday and tried it on something I have in large quantity--kitty litter pails. It fit like a glove and I like the rectangular shape.

It makes a nice tote for inside tools and keeps them handy. The kitty, however, is still not convinced that this is a good idea.

Gotta admit that I am using a kitty litter tool tote for some work up at the cottage. No fancy liner though.

Been using the Kitty litter buckets for years. Wife's two cats generate a lit of catshit, and therefore a lot of buckets. Bonus is, I can put the lid on and nobody steals them out of the back of my truck. I never used the bucket liners, but frequently make plywood dividers to hold things in place on the inside.

i've had two of those and grown to hate them. Have to admit if they had been on a pail like that instead of round they would probably have been more usable.

I hear you. I have avoided the bucket pails for years because they looked like they would be uncomfortable to use. Those 5 gal buckets are DEEP. I think this works because it is rectangular AND because it is on a SHORT bucket. Only about 12-14" deep so things don't get lost in the bottom.

Why buy litter in those pails? It's about twice as much as just buying it in a 30 lb. Bag. You can always empty it in a pail from there to make it more manageable for your wife.

You're thinking of regular old clay kitty litter, which comes in bags.

Clumping litter comes in these 35 pound pails or in 20 pound bottles. And yes, it's a lot more expensive than old-fashioned kitty litter, but it's well worth it. There are some other, slightly cheaper brands of clumping litter that come in boxes lined with a heavy plastic bag.

We've learned the hard way (currently at two cats; we've always had two to four cats in residence) that the generic or off-brand clumping litter just doesn't work nearly as well as brand name Tidy Cat.

Anyway, the cheapest way to buy Tidy Cat is in these pails, and with a couple of cats around, you end up with a lot of the damn plastic pails. I often buy it in the big bottles just because I'm running out of ideas for the pails, or I need more bottles to take used oil in for recycling.

I have a Kobalt bucket tote that was given to me by someone that didn't like it. I may be in the minority here but it works great, although i am careful to not let it get too full.

Good stuff. I have mine in a roundish bucket (which is great). But I have tons of those kitty litter pails around. I guess .....

I have a regular 5 gal bucket with one of those liners and I love it. I keep all my most common around the house tools in it. Impact driver, small hammer, tape measure, stud finder, etc. then I've got plenty of room in the bucket to lug materials for a specific chore. Things do tend to get lost Ian the bottom though. I try to clean it out and organize it once in a while.

I buy the 30 lb bag of Tidy Cat litter in the bag. That's not different than the stuff that comes with the pail is it?

We have one cat and have thought about getting another sometime, but that might not be to our Queen Bee's liking!

One thing with these Kitty litter buckets, they are not as durable as a regular 5 gallon bucket, and when the handle is overloaded, it lets go...
But the price is right.
Out local store doesn't have the 30 Lb. bags, and if I got it I would have to put the litter in something solid (Cats... G@#%&!!! Cats!)

You can get these buckets for free at Sam's Club in the bakery department. They are used to store frosting and the store just throws them out. I called ahead to make sure I didn't have to be a member and the baker had five all stacked up and ready for me.

Yes, they're very different. The bagged stuff is just clay litter. Semi-absorbent dirt, basically.

The stuff in the buckets is clumping litter (bentonite clay, to be precise) -- when the cat goes #1, it forms a little clump of cat pee concrete, which contains and isolates the kitty whiz. Same for kitty's #2 jobbies -- the litter absorbs moisture and hardens around the offending matter (assuming the critter bothers to cover it, anyway). For maximum freshness, you can scoop out the clumps every couple of days and top up the litter a bit, then change it entirely every week.

The end result is that the litterbox stinks a hell of a lot less. Clumping litter is pretty essential if you have more than one cat.

I think clumping litter is essential with just one cat...

In the wintertime, I keep sand in the back of the truck. The bags were always snagging on something and dumping sand, so I opened them and dumped them in the cat litter milk-jug style container.
