Hello,

I founded this set on amazon and I boight it because I know kein is usa made, right? 24 bucks.

Comes in a nice metal box but the box says MADE IN TAIWAN.

:/

So, its just the bix made in taiwan? The sockets too?

I would have bought pittsburg if I knew!

Not everything Klein sells is made in USA these days. However, I would say the sockets are a USA re-brand and the tray came from Taiwan.

How do you find the quality? because at that price if its USA made it's well worth it.

If the sockets are stamped "USA" then they are most likely in fact made here. Would be cool to know who is making them for Klein as I doubt they make their own sockets...?

Its a pretty decent box anyways. The sockets feel heavy and sturdy, kinda like my Blackhawks.

As soon as I use them, I will post an update.

They are from 7mm to 19mm.

The stamping on the sockets tho, is inconsistent font. Kinda ****** looking.

As I said, I will update asap.

Nor is Milwaukee or Makita or Dewalt or any other company INCLUDING Metabo.
The bottom line is quality control and the scumbags who write the checks.
I don't care if it's made in GFDYUJUHFDGBHNGDRF A
It's either awesome..........or not.

my brother has that set. it got left somewhere as he chose to use chinese CMan over them. it's a rebrand - USA sockets with a taiwan holder. dont recall COO of ratchet, just that it sucked.

I bought a set of Klein boxed ratchet wrenches and only have 1 left that works. Was very disappointed about that because the rest of their tools haven't done me wrong. Grainger wouldn't warranty it either.

to be fair, those aren't "their" tools. they're outsourced from another mfr.

same as channellocks mechanics tool sets. have someone else mfr and etch a name in

Yep at the time I was not an educated buyer, fortunately it was a cheap mistake in the big scheme of things!

I am a big fan of made in the US tools, but that is not a guarantee of quality. (made in China usually ****, but no guarantee on that either)

I have that set and it says made in USA on each socket. Bought it about 20 yrs ago and never had a problem (except the metal tray lid doesn't hold them tight enough to keep them from spilling out). If memory is right the set was WAY more than $27 at that time and I thought they were in the same class as my SK sockets. The facilites crew (80) where I worked used these to maintain a 1.2 mil sq ft plant (4400 employees) and they held up fine, so I bought based on that. Last time I looked, Klein doesn't advertise this set as made in the USA anymore.

that's great to hear from a canadian :beer:

the general rule stands, though. you can usually rely on USA tools for quality, and chinese to be junk

Yeah, that little box looks great but I can tell its not gonna hold the sockets.

I thought that getting a shallow and a deep 6 point set in a mid grade quality would suffice. I want to see if I end up working regularly as a mechanic apprentice to determine if I spend bigger bucks on quality 12 point socket sets.

But, whatever I do, I first check if I can keep the money flowing between US. Made in USA if I can afford it.

Update: I email them to ask them directly.

A very kind lady answered offering me to look up the part number to know where they came from.

An extract of the message:

..." Klein Tools does sell some products that are made in other countries to our quality standards. For the most part, these are items that are simply not produced in the US anymore. If you ever need to know the country of origin for a specific item, please feel free to contact us and we will be happy to assist."...

So, when in doubt, just email them. They will reply immediately.
