Klein cushion grip nut driver storage

I have searched many storage ideas in this forum but didn't come across anything specific to nut drivers.

My wife gave me 2 sets of Klein driver sets, 65160( 7 piece metric) and 631(7 piece standard set) for xmas.

I know there are peg board accessories for screw drivers that would work but I want to see other ideas,

I was thinking about installing a small shelf/piece of wood on the wall with either holes in it or slots? I don't want to put them in a drawer, I have all my wrenches and screw drivers hanging on a wall and want to do the same with these and dont want to drill holes in the handles.

Not all the handles are the same diameter.

let's see your ideas or your set up.
cheers
Happy 2015

use the magnets like made for knife storage
nice score BTW

I keep the ones for home use(vs my work tool bag ones) in a plastic box that held cadweld shots and it fits perfectly in the drawer of my tool box

The Vaco metric nutdriver set I got from Harry Epstein came with a nice stand. Not sure if it could be ordered seperately.

thanks for the idea, one set of gear wrenches i have attached to a magnet strip on my wall and absolutely hate it. if i bump the wrenches, then they fall off, perhaps not a good quality magnet who knows. not a fan.

this type of holder would be perfect if I can find one. i checked harry epsteins site and didn't see just the holder.

thanks

Like this one of all I have seen. It puts the hex ends right up there so you can see what you needs. Some sheet metal and a set of Greenlee hole punches and you could fabricate this yourself.

Great timing as I just made this yesterday from a old Klein screw driver display. Granted it might be a bit overkill for two sets of nut drivers, but since you asked...

BTW, been using Klein stuff for 30+yrs and their nuts drivers are the best. Congrats on your new toys.

And no, it's not organized yet..LOL

Certainly an option.

Here's my version. A couple scraps of cherry screwed together, one inch dia holes.

I was tossing around this Idea too as I have some scrap oak and maple pieces that would be perfect for this.

how did you attach it to the wall?

....and it's free :)

thanks

I don't normally push Taiwan stuff, but I got these Z Racks on discount from Eastwood..

Since my "regular" peg board hooks are probably made outside of USA, I purchased these. I know there are Made in USA pegs available in plastic (http://wallpegstore.com/), and I have a bunch of those too. But this Z Rack (the center one with the screw drivers) worked out pretty well.

I made a few of these a couple of weeks ago. They are 1x1.5x1/8" 6061 aluminum. I used automotive plastic push in rivets to attach to pegboard. The rivets are easy to remove and do not tear up the pegboard.
13/16" holes will allow my largest nut drivers to fit.

these are awesome. you can nip the tabs off if you dont have pegboard and screw to wall. ive even cut them in half and moved them to different spots. can drill out holes to suit what tools you have. they are handy.

i'll have to go to HD and check it out, I question the durability. But I like it.

I actually have some of that angle brackets for mounting garage door openers and rails. I could use that too.

The home depot ones will feel somewhat flimsy in store but once screwed both section become. Pretty rigid. I used in in my trailer where things need to be light.

I've got a couple of these .. not from HF, but maybe 15 years old now. They have warped some over time, but continue to serve the purpose as described, and as long as its not overloaded it should serve well.

I made a bracket out of wood for my screwdrivers. Although, lately, I have found myself wanting a small (cheap) metal bender like this so I can make custom brackets for tools, lights etc.

http://www.harborfreight.com/30-inch-bending-brake-67240.html

Yeah, I've made some special wood tool holders for my measuring / precision tools and other items.. I typically use poplar wood for these as the grain is tighter than pine. (hard vs soft wood as well). Cherry's good too Woodtick..

I've not painted mine or otherwise finished it.. lazy I suppose.. but it works out fine. :)

I too have entertained getting a box and pan brake so I can fab tool holders.. that's on my "wish list".

All good stuff!

I drilled a piece of pvc decking for mine, then screwed a strip of wood to the front to finish it off and stiffen it up. I like having files, chisels, screwdrivers, nut drivers, etc within reach. As a bonus I use the wasted space behind my bench because of the stem wall curb for long drivers, files, etc. All in all it took way too long to make and I wish I had done it differently but I wasted so much time on it I decided to use it anyway. It works well, Im just not happy with it for some reason. One day when I get the rest of my garage organized and cleaned up a bit Ill redo it in 1 of 2 ways.

A) 2 long strips of .25x3" wood spaced .5" or so apart with strategically placed spacers so it is just a long open space

B) sheet metal rack for each group of tools. That way I can reorganize as I see fit.

my problem is my workbench is too deep to use pegboard behind it. i can reach the wall, but im short and iits a stretch. its an old steel drafting table. i got it for next to nothing, so ive been abusing it and its holding up well.

AS much as I am a fan of Klein tools, those would drive me nuts, since they are all the same color, (yellow) which is a 5/16" in virtually all SAE nut driver sets I have encountered. I even call them out by color if I have anyone assisting my work. "Give me the RED one", which of course is 1/4.

Maybe you could use color tape/paint on the shank and on the holder. Perhaps these do have a dot of color someplace, but I did not see it.

In regard to a holder I do use metal pegboard and a pegboard screwdriver holder for mine.

There is a colored dot on the end of each one. look at the set in Labradorian's pic.
but after years of service they do wear off.

i sold mine off that i got in a deal with other tools and kept the 9/16 because i dont have that in my craftsman sizes. i didnt need 2 sets and sold the them for more than i could the cman

if you look at Lxcam's pic with his drivers in his newly built holder, you will see a 1/4" driver... on the end of the handle with a red hexagon around it and it is indented into the handle. im sure they will be ok for many years.

cheers

i pick over them at flea market all the time and have never seen any that still have the coloring there. maybe they are just all beat to death. even sets ive gotten over the years ive never had any coloring on them. maybe i have had older sets? i see them in home depot while browsing, i always assumed they just wear off after use.

I love to see wall space used for tool display and quick identification when needed rather than stashed away in a box. On white pegboard, the display is not only attractive but very useful. I have no fear of displaying mine...a thief can steal out of a box very easily too. some garages in some neighborhoods have to be locked up like a Mosler safe though...I understand that. thanks for the "open, visible storage/display ideas.":beer:
