Wondering how good they are? Anyone have their socket sets? A guy I know is retiring from an electric place and is willing to sell his stuff to me. It all appears to be in good condition and include wrenches and socket sets. Thanks for your input.

I don't know about sockets and wrenches but their other stuff is very good in my experience.

I own a good bit of Klein but only breify had a wrench set and have never as much as used the sockets. Everything I ever owned and had the Klein name on it has been of excellant quality. No complaints from me on Klein

I have the long shaft nut driver set that I use all the time.
And of course I have the lineman pliers(2) that I won't do any electrical work without.

have a good assortment of Klein's (but not sockets). Used them professionally for years. Only problem I ever had was needing to replace my rod-buster pliers every 5-6 years due to worn out jaws...I don't even want to think about the number of tons per plier.

I have the Klein standard wrench set up to 15/16. They are a bit beefier than the CM full polish wrenches and the plating is very nice.

The drivers are a sure bet and I'd get any wrenches he might have if they are a good price. Can't comment on the sockets.

I have a lot of klein tools, but I hear from the grapevine that some of the newer tools are not holding up so good! All I can tell you is that the older klein tools have never let me down; I don't own any of the sockets or wrenches just the pliers and screwdrivers.

I have both the 1/4 & 3/8 drive socket sets in green hammertone boxes that i purchased since the 80s. Excellent set and had served me well. SK was the OEM company that made these sets. I don't know who is the OEM that makes the current set that comes in the red metal box. If you could get them, get it, you will not regret it........

i have 4 generations of union electricians in the family. i am the black sheep who went into autos where all my cousins are in the trade.

my entire family swears by klein for their work. although they do agree that newer stuff is not as beefy as older stuff--yet they still swear by them.

another brand that my pap swore by was vaco. i guess they were bought out by klein? i still have his vacuum molded dikes. good quality.

The Klien adjustable wrenches are superb, I also really like the 5 in 1 screwdriver.

My other Klien tools are pliers wire crimper, curve handle wire stripper (great tool), 8" wire cutters, cable cutters

pliers, strippers, cutters, wrenches screwdrivers are all good. the socket sets are nice, but the ratchet felt a little cheap to me, never broke, but just not as good quality as i would expect for klein

Funny how the tools are kept in an S-K toolbox but he said he remembers the green boxes that the ratchet sets came in before he transferred them into the tool box. I am definitely picking this stuff up. Thanks for the help.

The sockets and ratchets that I have from them that my dad got in the 80's are defiantly made by SK. I don't know if it is possible but the Klein version of the SK ratchets almost seem to be better made than the actual SK ones themselves.

I think the wrenches are top notch and work great. The couple of ratchets I have do seem to be not all that great... But they do work... My stuff is all older... Hand me down tools... probably made by sk.

The newer Klein ratchets seem to be lower quality. I bet the ratchets and sockets are imported because you seem to be able to buy a 1/4" ratchet everywhere online for less than $10. The older stuff made by SK was top notch.

old yellow/rubber handle screwdrivers are great, had some for a decade or so now - never failed me. I hate the newer journeyman drivers though. Their yellow handle diag. cutters and needle nose pliers are awesome too.
