I've been using these pliers all week and I'm impressed with them. For being only 8 inches long, they sure do cut through nails easily. If a pallet is too cheesy to reuse, I take it apart and throw the pieces into the lumber recycling bin. I like to cut the nails as flush with the board as possible. I can cut the nail faster than bending it over with a hammer.

What would be the comparable Knipex product?

Would it be the 74 21 250 ?

As far as I'm aware, the blue handled Klein cutters are functionally the same as the regular Knipex 8" cutters (74 01 200). The blue handled Kleins just have extra hardened knives compared to the red handled ones, but I believe the regular Knipex knives are hardened to the same extent as the "extra hardened" Klein knives.

Knipex has a few varieties of the 74 series cutters, with the option of an angled head or longer grips (250mm), but the actual business end is the same. The angled grip or longer grip cutters may cut through nails easier, or be easier to cut flush due to the angle, but they actual cutting edge is not any different or more flush than the regular 74 01 200 pliers.

For flush cutting nails/screws/bolts, I like to use the Knipex 61 02 200 end cutting bolt cutters. They have an extra high leverage pivot like bolt cutters, so they require much less force to cut than the 74 series cutters, and the knives are a little bit more flush cutting, but not by much.

Not sure about the mention knipex cutters but I have the heavy duty Klein cutters and linesmen pliers that have the thick black and blue handles and I have the same ones but with the regular red and blue thin grips. The ones with the heavy duty handles definitely have a hardened tougher cutters. They will cut anything the fits in the jaws and even if I have to close them with a vise I still have yet to make any type of a mark or flat spot on the cutters. Even cutting harden steel rods. Where as the normal style grips pliers the cuts are weak compared the the
Heavy duty ones. Now they also seem to be thicker blades so not sure if
You would be able to cut the nail flush enough with the wood to where the nail wouldn’t cause a problem. Have you tried using a cold
Cut saw to just cut the pallets apart? Or what about using one of those air hammers and are designed to hammer out nails?
There’s a video on YouTube that someone goes over just how fast breaking down a pallet with one could be?
