Very questionable reviews on amazon. Although with how ready it is to return on amazon it might be worth a shot

Give it a shot . . . . only thing that seems "iffy" is that neither picture is decent quality. You can't zoom in on the sockets and see any markings, etc.

Worst thing you could have is couple "red sticks" of China sockets for $55 !! :D

I thought that I'd read at one time that Wright made these for Klein. I know for a fact that as of roughly 3 years ago, the SAE were U.S.A. made. One of the I&E techs at work bought them and was showing everyone. They looked like good sockets to me at the time.

Send the eBay seller a message asking the COO. They're probably nothing special even if they are USA.

I just sent the eBay seller an email and I'll report back what the seller says. I wouldn't think they're anything special. But a set of affordable, new, USA made tools feels right to me. If they give me old USA Craftsman quality, I'd be happy.

I don't know who made the sockets, but I have a Klein 3/8" drive ratchet that I am almost positive was made by SK. It is identical in every way to my SK ratchet.

I bought a Klein set with ratchet and it is all made by wright I'm positive, the ratchet is the wright 3400 with tootsie roll grip and it is all top notch. I dont think the newer stuff is wright but who knows just call Klein and ask them who makes them. Also the ratchets without handle grip look like sk but I think they might be the wright as well but hard to tell as they look so much the same with knurled grip just have to look inside at the guts. You can't beat the price for 25.

Probably legit. Price is in line with what other stores are charging. The set is shown on Klein's site as Cat # 65506 Link. The other store's prices range from $21 to $38 plus shipping for the set. Look under the "Buy Now" tab on the page.

Thanks for the link, Engine. So the Klein page is saying USA made... :rocker:

But in all seriousness, how can they afford to make USA tools this cheap?

USA made sockets this cheap? This is one of those, if it sounds too good to be true it is moments, right? I really like that tray though... Does anyone have this set, how's it held up? I am thinking of my next set of sockets, would really like to stay USA but don't have the money to go SK or Wright. Any thoughts?

Item picture not current and MADE IN TAIWAN By B. Anderson on August 11, 2016
Verified Purchase
Item pictured is an older product and is not what is being sent. These are unmarked as to country of origin, but I called Klein and they verified that these are made in Taiwan.

Personally, Taiwan is not a deal breaker.

The Klein sockets and ratchets I have used were nothing special. Lots of slack in the ratchets, low tooth count. Sockets thin walled and easily broken.

When I think of Klein today I think of the "new" black grips.

Shame really.

You get what you pay for.

Same old new story, famous USA tool name being cheapened by sneaking offshore hoping no-one catches on. Folks if the price is around double HF its china all the way. I wish they would tell us COO fairly so we don't have to guess or worse > assume. We understand the global economy but don't try to trick us, change the brand or names accordingly.

edit IDK perhaps putting 'New' Klein on the package for a clue. dammit I shoulda known Channel Lock and now Kline offering mechanics sockets sets? I see a clue right there.

I'm hoping that it's a rebranded Wright set... If those sockets are being made in the US, they can only be made by a "bigger" US manufacturing plant, which would point to one of the big socket makers. Maybe they're Wright factory seconds? (Which I'd take in a heartbeat.) But I think I'm being too hopeful here. You always end up getting what you paid for. In life and in tools! I think I might pick up the set (maybe to keep in the car?) and purchase a wright socket to compare. But then again, would I really need all those tools! :)

Edit:
eBay seller pointed me to the Klein Tools webpage that states they're made in the USA. Wish they'd look at the sockets for us.

Well I can tell you the old Klein sockets sets were rock solid but I'm pretty certain I read here a couple years ago that manufacturing went overseas. But for that price it's be worth trying a set out.

My friend runs an HVAC store and they sell various Klein socket sets and they are all from Taiwan.

I have one of the Klein ratchets made in Taiwan and it is of an older Stanley/ Husky design. A Stanley ratchet kit fit in the Klein perfectly.

A friend told me that he saw a you tube video showing Klein making their own sockets in the USA.

The latest review 8/16 says sockets are made in Taiwan. Amazon has a problem with many of its listings misidentifying USA as the COO of stuff. I complained about a couple of listings and they were eventually changed. Apparently the person who is the current low price seller gets to edit the listing and surprise, they don't edit out that a product is no longer USA made.

That's the impression I'm getting... I'm thinking this Klein set is a great trunk set to have in your car. Especially if you're an electrician! :shocking:
