Klein Tools Go To China?

Still made in USA

Really, Does it matter too much? I just bought one, the blades hit each other and the Plier doesn't even close. I am going to have to replace it tomorrow. It is made in USA! I guess the manufactures are cutting corners, reducing the quality control "over head". They might as well as go to China, at least they can enforce the suppliers to control the quality.

If you look real closely, the plier jaws have a little anvil in the back that closes all the way, but the teeth up front don't make contact; that's normal.

No. It is not normal. I have one pairs that I used for years, but this pair are definitely not right out of box. The front tips don't even come close. In fact, I can see the blades are hitting each other which prevents them from fully close.

The following picture is taken when the pliers are in fully "close" position. Clearly, they are NOT right.

OK, I can see your point. If you need 22-30AWG strippers, these Williams are made by Stride and I suspect they're the same as the Craftsman #73574 strippers that Sears no longer stocks:

Thanks. I got a pair of Snap on PWCS7 that work really well for a bigger wire. Unfortunately, I often work on wire 24-26 for electronics. There aren't many choices...

Klein Tools is run by Kleins that have no clue about Klein, they ousted their brother a few years ago who was the brains. Without the BEW they would be out of business.

Perhaps you are thinking of Hong Kong, which was reunited with the rest of mainland China about 13 years ago now.



No I'm thinking of Taiwan, everybody in industry knows anything sent to Taiwan within 6 months its in China (ask someone in defence about the F16 upgrades), how many Taiwanese work in China, its huge (millions), around 50% like the idea of joining China officially again. The only people not willing to see Taiwan as part of China is Americans lead by the Clinton's. Possibly because you Americans have wasted billions of dollars in Taiwan, trying to keep them separated only to find they are drawing closer together, both in terms of economy and geology.

Maybe send an aircraft carrier over, like in 1996, we can see if theirs is operational yet.

The "in ones" are not made in the USA. Some of them (can't remember which sku's) are packaged here in Iowa. If they're packaged here, you can look at the packaging closely it'll have just a USA flag on it. If I remember correctly it won't say made in the USA. The few that aren't packaged here are bought packaged complete from China.

Yup, the 32527 11-in-1 with schrader valve is assembled in USA from global
components. I called Klein and asked why it was not marked "USA" on the
tool. The customer service gal then spoke with a product engineer and
got the complete answer.

When I emailed Klein I was told it was made in USA.

I am guessing the problem is that is just says USA for country of origin on
the computer screen that customer service uses and does not distinguish
between made in and assembled in.

I have those Klein made small-gauge strippers and they work great. Bought them about a year ago from HD.
