Figured I'd start one because they had some good stuff on sale (I believe; don't believe it's clearance). It might be a ymmv type deal.
(estimated prices as I remember; actual price is below the stated price)
Permatex blue (small tube): 2.50
Craftsman folding (color insert) razor knives: 2.50
Shop towel roll (generic brand): 1.50
Antifreeze tester 1.50
"GM" licensed jack, jackstands, and creeper: 40 bucks
Evolv 3/8 standard set: 5 bucks (?; 6 point? I think it was cheaper but it wasn't over 5 bucks; china). Looked okay to me for a tossaway set but didn't have metric.

Not a whole lot otherwise tool related (that I remember).

Good idea Nicks. I shopped at Kmart recently for the first time in about 4 years! I found something there that did surprise me! My store had a nice wine section! Several local to my state winery offerings at pretty good prices. Made New Years work out pretty well! I will be going back again! :) - Paul

I used to know a guy who was a big shot at K-Mart (in this area anyway). He said that they treated their vendors, product suppliers, and employees a lot better than Wal-Mart does.

I remember going there with my mom back in the 1970's as a small kid. They used to have cafeterias in them -- in the back of the store. You could get a club sandwich, burger, hot dog, macaroni salad, jello, etc..

I used to be the Pepsi guy at my local Kmart. They were total assholes to deal with and their store was a cluster.

That Evolve set is probably pretty decent for a backup set. I got an Evolve ratchet as a warranty replacement for a 70's Kmart ratchet and was pretty surprised with it.

Yep. I remember the cafeterias well. I think all K-Marts had them way back when. And it truly was a cafeteria---not just an ordering counter. The cafeterias were always really smoky and kind of dingy by the early 80s...back when smoking inside was pretty much acceptable everywhere, including large portions of hospitals and grocery stores!

I stop out at the local K-Mart every couple of months. I've found some pretty good deals back in the mostly-neglected automotive section. A year or so ago, they had all their Quaker State quarts of oil on clearance sale for $1.39. The clerk was baffled when I rolled a cart up with about 60 quarts in it. That supply will last me a while!

This thread should be titled "Blue Light Specials" :lol_hitti

Do they still have those at Kmart? All the local stores closed years ago

I miss them blue light specials.

I've got some benchtop brand screwdrivers from kmart that have held up darn good all these years.

It is kind of funny, but now that I have occasionally found something at Sears I can use with my SYWR points, you can also rack up tool points by buying stuff at Kmart to then buy tools with at Sears! My wine purchases might get me $3 in points a month if I drink heavily and often! I like a good Riesling, Muscat Canneli, or Gewurstraminer every once in a while! :) - Paul

My first tools came from Kmart. When I was 6 or 7 my dad got me a blue plastic toolbox with a couple of screwdrivers, a small pair of vice grips, and a pair of side cutters. I still have them somewhere. The box is cracked and the Phillips screwdrivers are stripped but all the other tools work fine.

Used to have one up the street (when I say up the street I mean a mile away) when I was a kid became a "trader horn" which is a funny *** store but had more interesting (useful) stuff than an actual kmart.

I don't go to kmart (I do go to sears) now because they're kind of a distance away but typically I do find deals (to me at least) whenever I go there. When I saw the price on the threadlocker I was like "yes please" because I can't find the cheap **** pro seal stuff anymore. Not a big automotive/tool section but typically I'll find something anyway because I'm a dinosaur and they always have old stock stuff. That's where I got my oiling can when I went there last year.

Wow they must have used that exact same layout for all K Mart stores, use to be one here where I grew up in Texas and it looked identical to that pic down to the Coke & Pepsi machine placement.

Keep an eye out for these when you are in Kmart. The 125psi model was ringing up for $30 even a couple months ago in Kmart and was $79 in Sears. It's been replaced by a 135 psi model so keep an eye out for them

I remember getting one hell of a deal on my Ruger 10/22 years ago. They had a real ugly synthetic stock 10/22 they were clearancing out for something like $120 out the door. I should have bought all they had and sat on them a few years. I did buy their entire stock of sling mount that were something like .50 cents each.
Might have to swing by the one we have left near me on my way home tomorrow.

While in high school back in the early 80's I worked at a Kmart near Buffalo (store 3008 as I recall). It was actually a fun place to work. I am still friends with people I met while working there.

They had that Kmart cafe in back of the store as mentioned above. I also remember having fun with the blue light special thing. I eventually became the seasonal manager (while I was still a high school kid!) and noticed Steer Manure on a vendor's product listing. So I ordered a pallet along with other garden soils and such. After the order came in one busy Saturday morning I wheeled out the blue light cart and got on the pa and announced; "Attention Kmart shoppers! We have a blue light special going on in the garden shop for Bull Shi... err Steer Manure!"

Good times...

When I was in High School, I worked at the mall theater. The old Bill Murray movie "Meat Balls" was coming to an end and I was told to go change the marquee out by the road. I pulled the M down on one side while I worked on the other side of the sign. :D

Yeaaa...and now we yell at our kids for the stupid stuff they do!

I have unusually good luck at kmart. Everything I'm looking to purchase always ends up being on sale or is a better quality item than you would find at walmart for cheaper.

we used to have Kresge's here, which was a dime-store type version of K-mart, maybe existed before K-mart evolved from Kresge's...remember the turkey/mashed potato lunch special for something like 69cents...they used to have banks of gumball machines and my grandma gave me a quarter to get a "keep on truckin'" iron-on transfer out of one...wore that shirt with pride...

so not to stray too far off topic, I found this past Christmas that they had better sale prices on craftsman tools than Sears did. They had Craftsman tool bags and plastic tool boxes for $4.99 when sears were $7.99. Bought 10 of 'em and they are great for keeping extra toos/straps in the truck, loaning out, etc. so keep an eye out for them...

Local KMarts (At least the big ones) have Craftsman tools. Look for the sale tag items.
Good deals on Black Friday

OT...
Before I met my wife, I was going out with a girl that worked at KMart headquarters. She was frugal, like many KMart customers.

I called her my "Blue Light Special".

To keep it garage related:
Never got to use my tool...

Kmart is the closest of that kind of store to me - only 1 stoplight and all right hand turns - no major streets. And I'll go in from time to time to get Kmart kind of stuff.

Might go up there today and pick up a Craftsman creeper. Always scan their tool section for sales because they give it away when they mark it down.
