This is my first ever garage and after working out of a carport for the last 25 years...this is waaaaaaaaay overdue.

It's a great starting point, but I am in the process of making it mine now.

Built in 2007, 1480 sq ft of finished walls with central heat/AC with 200 amp service, running water and plumbed for a bathroom. I need to put in a small septic to complete the bathroom stuff though.

Inside was painted this puke pea green and brown walls.:wtf: Not sure what the look was going to be with that.:headscrat

We primed everything first and put on two coats of semigloss white to brighten things up. 8 gallons and I still have some more to do.:eyecrazy:

We also painted the section between the doors semigloss black for a "sign-in" wall. When guests or visitors come over they can sign it with a silver sharpie and leave a short message. Will be fun to see how it develops and evolves.

Today I started putting color to the fan room. Univ of Michigan on the left wall, Univ of Connecticut on the right wall. Going to be fun doing this room up.

More pics to follow as I progress. Once done painting the fan room, I am setting up the woodshop to build workbenches and such for garage area. Got to buy a big toolbox also:bounce: This will be an evolving deal as I've never had a garage to work out of. Gotta figure out how I will organize it and outfit it. Seems a bit daunting right now though.:yikes:

VERY cool idea!

Nice... I'm originally from Thomaston, CT., so give UCONN the bigger wall. ;)

Congrats on the new place! Looks like a great workspace/man cave. Except for the paint they left you with it looks like you've got an awesome start to your dream garage. Welcome to the Journal, make sure you keep us updated with pics!

Northwest:thumbup:

That long room would make the ultimate tool crib.

I don't have a need for a tool crib that big...I want my tools close at hand. Been working with my tools in a closet in the house while doing work in carport.:(

Thanks. Yep, got a slush fund already with a list of purchases once I get it sorted out a bit more. Will knock out the paint stuff this week/weekend and get woodshop set up.

Nice score. Heat and AC is not a luxury in the Deep South.

You ain't kiddin. Looking forward to working in comfort for a change.

Thanks all. Here's an update pic on getting everything organized. Picked up the HF 13 drawer tool box today and a Kobalt work bench thing. I don't plan on beating on much there, more of simple work area. I'll build a much sturdier bench that I'll mount my vise to.
Still lots of stuff in boxes in the back room (wood shop) and several items still on the floor.
I have to actually unpack it all and get it layed out so I know what I'm dealing with. Right now, I'm not sure.:headscrat

the transformation that you have done looks great. I have never been a fan of green, but for some reason, this doesn't look too bad. Maybe because it is kind of an odd shade of green or at least on my monitor it is.

What is on the floor....epoxy? It looks to be a flat color instead of the normal shiny stuff.

the floor finish seems to be simple floor paint, it can be scraped off no problem with a scraper. It will be redone at some point, but for now, I'll just try to wear it off.

The outside of the garage is green, and having this odd shade inside along with the chocolate brown, it was a bit much. Not too mention dark. I am loving how bright it is now.

Now if I can just find all my posters I've been saving over the years.:headscrat

Updated pics of the Garagemahal. Many weekends of figuring out where/how to put things, and just using it which has helped the most in getting it sorted. Storage of things has been the biggest issue, but I pretty much got that sorted now. Still have to finish the Blue room as it's become the staging area for some stuff (anyone need a fridge?).

The wood shop. can't tell you how nice it is having everything out.

The Blue room. I'm a bit of a Michigan fan....wife is UConn fan. This will be the sports room when done. Long way to go in there though. lol

Bikes like being indoors now too!

I moved the sink over near the water heater, and had to re-plumb the drain and water lines. Then I built this workbench. Glued, screwd, and anchored to wall studs...it ain't going anywhere. Built it to a 40" benchtop height. Would love a butcherblock top, but I haven't found one big enough. I still have to prime and paint it black.

Quite a bit of changes since May...and it's been a lot of work, but it's all been worth it! Having a blast with my first garage.

If you want the looks of a butcher block top, what about putting some narrow laminate flooring on the top until you find what you need?

good idea. I'm looking more for the performance of butcher block....would love a nice steel top, but don't have any metal experience at all.

Been searching bowling alley for awhile...nothing in my area yet. Good idea though.

I've also made some minor changes. Got rid of the large hot water heater for a smaller point of use unit. Built another section of work table that wraps around the corner and I sunk the sink into it. Rearranged the wood shop for better workability also. Will be installing some recycled glass french doors into the wall going into the sports room for better accessibility between the two areas.
