Knipex 10 99 i220 ear clamp pliers

Just got my new ear clamp pliers from knipex. The handle rubber is ripped, so that's disappointing, but hopefully my seller will fix it. My question for y'all is: the front jaws meet flush when closed, but the side jaws have about a 1/8" to 1/4" gap. Is that correct, or were they ground wrong? I've never had a pair, so I wasn't sure.

I need a pair for clamping down my tie-rod bellows, will these work. I see the jaws on your's are not flush
