What's the price you were expecting? They were 19.99 two weeks ago, I'm seeing $24.59?

Knipex prices used to be higher, why are they less expensive recently? I'm not complaining, I'm just wonder what the change is.

Probably due to the fact that the Euro has been loosing value to the Dollar for the last 22 months. So tools made in Euro countries continue to fall in price because less Dollars are needed to buy them.

? The euro has been on a general trend upwards for at least the last 2 years. Today we sit at $1.36/€. That's pretty high and certainly not trending down. This would cause the knipex prices higher. So as to the why? Maybe they're trying to gain market share. Maybe they found a better more efficient way to manufacture them or maybe the retailers are cutting their margins. Who knows.

I'm curious how you guys like these?

I have other Knipex stuff and I'm sure they're top-notch, but I do a lot of wire stripping/etc. and the format of the tool doesn't seem that appealing to me.

They're my go to tool for household wiring. This and a screwdriver and you can basically do anything. They strip 12 & 14 ga perfectly without any nicks to the wire. I love em. The only thing I can complain about is, I wish they were a little bit bigger, then they would be absolutely perfect!

Are you in Chicago?

Reason I ask, is 99% of what I do is NM... and so I use the Klein NM stripper for that kind of work. I don't usually crimp anything when doing household electrical, so the crimpers would be a waste.

Just discussing here, not saying they're not useful, just seems like most tasks you'd use them for, you'd be better served with other stuff? :)

I'm in the Detroit area, but spend quite a bit of time in Chicago.

I can see what you're saying and used to use the kleins. I really liked them, except for them being stamped. The forging of the Knipex just makes them feel better. The Knipex are also better pliers than the standard stamped ones and finally I got them for a ridiculous price when lowes was clearing them out.

I can't say that I've found them to be bad at any of the tasks they are used for, so I don't really miss having dedicated tools for each one. No need to carry strippers, needle nose, or side cutters with these.
