This is a good price on these, with that being said, I would not buy these ones. I have them and really wish I would've gotten the notched version. But if I had to choose, these or nothing. I would pick these.

There was a listing on ebay selling them for $32.99 but just as I was about to purchase they raised price to $34.99. Still selling like crazy. One could probably buy this on amazon with free shipping and sell on ebay and make money.

fivespdcat-

I thought these did have a notch placed deep in the cutting edge.

The 71 01 do not have the notch, they are the standard ones, the notched versions have 71 3x in the numbers.

Good to know. The ones I noticed on ebay were all notched versions. This is the first time I've seen one without it.

Could these be used to cut the steel that is in a windshield wiper blade refill? I need to trim one to length.

The link above is still good, you have to find amazon as the seller if you just search, otherwise it'll be a third party vendor fulfilled by amazon for fifty shekels.

I ordered last night, and even as a prime member, I was surprised to see my shipping estimate as a month out.

So, if you want the lower price, be prepared to wait.

You already got your yes but wanted to add..look for the word Piano on the handle of these. When you see that you can cut about anything that will fit in the jaw. Many cutters are for copper only and too soft for steel. Not these or many of the other cutters sold by Knipex. I like all of mine and if you don't already own a set of these mini cutters get a set.

After receiving the "yes" answer, I was going to buy these. But then I saw the 2-4 week wait on the Amazon link. No thanks, need them now! So I saw that Ash from GermanHandTools.com had a set of Knipex end nippers for sale on here for $43 shipped. They're chrome, and rated for piano wire as you say. Ash even went so far as to find an old wiper blade and test the pliers out for me to make sure they'd work. So, they are headed my way now.

Honestly, I think the notched version would be nice. I also think the comfort grips do make a difference on something like this, which I would recommend. I have thought about buying the KNIPEX 61 02 200 which is the end cutting version with comfort grips but amazon charges WAY too much. There is a link at the bottom of the page which allows you to report a lower price. Chads toolbox literally sells this item for $30 less than amazon.... but paying even $50 at chads still seems a bit high to me, especially when you gotta pay an extra $9 for shipping.

Anyway, this item would be great as a nail puller and cutter in one. based on the design, for this purpose it appears to be the best in the maket as it allows for plenty of clearance for the nail head and also provides, what would appear to be the best cutting power for its size.

The description says "Cuts material like bolts, nails, rivets, etc Up to 52 mm dia"
Doesn't this seem a bit too big for this bolt cutter? Is this just a typo?

can somebody explain what the differences between the notched and regular version are.

There is a recess or notch at the back of the jaws. With the normal ones when cutting large stuff you may have to make an initial cut then slide the work back and make your final cut. A little inconvenient but they work great anyway especially if they are on sale.
