just throwing this out there, i think pretty soon im gonna do a comparison write up or maybe even a video of most of the popular diagonal cutters since i have bought most of them over the last couple months. these Knipex models are great..

off the top of my head i have these Knipex 8" and 10", 8" Kliens, 2 - 8" Channellock models, 8" Crescent pivot pro's and compound cutting models, 6,7 and 8" Milwaukee (old style - might buy the new one too) , 8" NWS (Irwin).. these are ALL new - so its fair..

i think alot of people might be disappointed once you compare all these side by side and pin them up against each other.

Dont forget to check the local ad. (local.sears.com) My local has the 10" cutters for $26 right now. As well as the 8" on sale.

As always the local ads will vary by store. And the price on the regular sears site may be different as well. They may not price match the local ads. I think that about covers it.

How do these compare with the Crescent Pivot Pros? I only need one pair, been wondering which is better. By the way, I appreciate your posts KC, Thanks

if i remeber correctly - the knipex are better.. at this price especially. if you can hold off till tuesday - i will bring them home (they are in one of my tool belts at work) and do cuts side by side with them and let you know for sure..

since this might only be a holiday sale - id say just buy them so you get the deal, and worst case you can bring them back to any store. but im pretty sure te knipex cut better which is why i havent been using the piviot pro's alot.

i have the knipex 10" models too - but the 8" is better for something your gonna use all the time.. the 10's get heavy and really only help if you need the extra reach.. also you have to hold them halfway up the handle anyway to get them to open to a decent width, so the rest of the handles are just something cumbersome to deal with..

if the 5 tools i own from Knipex are a benchmark - i would say its a safe bet to assume you wont regret any purchase you make from them.

I've been waiting for the angled cobolt cutters to go on sale, Amazon has 'em for $50, Sears keeps 'em at $89 for whatever reason. Not sure why they won't even come close, I have some SYWR points to burn.

You mean the cutters in the attachment? :lol_hitti

I guess an employee put the sticker on the CL 8" cutters, so I helped them out by putting it in the right place after taking the picture. The Sears I visited was all jacked up, the 16 oz Estwing rang up at $19.99 and the Knipex pliers wrench rang up at $52.99. The shelf was clearly marked at $17.97 and $49.99 respectively, though.

i just bought the channellock 8" 338's and the newer 8" E338's/XLT too.... along with the newer 9.5" 369crft / XLT lineman pliers for my comparison write up or video i might wind up doing.. only way to find out which models / brands of cutters are the best is to try them all..

well think of it this way - if you dont buy it now while its on sale, itll just cost you more money when you buy it later..

Hey KC.....when is the comparison test going to take place and/or the video? Need something to help make my decision.

honestly not sure - but anything from knipex, channellock or Klein will be good.. without having them all in front of me - the knipex are one of the best, and once you get into that level the difference is pretty minimal. im still waiting for the newer style channellocks to come, and i have a few sets at work ill need to bring home.. one thing i will say - is channellock really impressed me - i honestly did not expect them to be as good as they are.. U

i warn everyone that IF i do a video, its not gonna be some professional production type thing.. its just gonna be for people here - im not trying to win youtube hits. besides, i need something to justify spending my money on like 6 or 7 of the same tools.

haha. No worries on the video quality, but do post it once you get it done please. I already have the Kleins, but on the fence whether to go with the knipex from Sears.

ill say this much.. i bought a brand new pair of kleins from HD maybe 2 weeks ago, and right out of the package there is a LITTLE slop in the joint.. enough to make the cutting edges SLIGHTLY mis-align. there is nothing like that in the channellock's or the Knipex. not sure if i got a bad pair, or there was a bad run on the Klein - but i was suprised to see them like that.. i dont feel it makes any difference with them cutting though, but with the pairs i have, the knipex has a better quality of build to them..

dont expect a night and day difference between them, but if you need or just want a new pair the Knipex is a great choice..

Here's my update. I decided to pass on the cutters and just stay with the Irwins I already bought.

I decided to go with this though.....

Who knows?
I've already got the 8" as well as the 10" version of these pliers. They are both pretty awesome. I prefer the 10" ones though.
