Knipex at Sears.com

So I'm trying to use up some Sears gift cards and I figured some new pliers are in order. When searching for Knipex, I get multiple results for seemingly the same tool. Does anyone know what the difference between these pliers are...besides the large price difference and part number?

They're the same. Look at the pic in your second link, you can see the part numbers match.

In the part number the -200 is mm and the -8 is inch. I guess the converted the part number to sae

There is no difference. The KN7401-8 is the Americanized sizing (8 inch) vs the 74 01 200 which is the same plier listed as 200mm long. In the Knipex web site, they give an inch figure for every one except the 200 mm which they do not give a comparable inch size (8" being the closest)

Look at the blow up of the pics, both have the same 74 01 200 on the handles (assuming they used pics of the real products being sold)

One lists the model as a 74 01 200 SBA, however the Knipex does not list a SBA in the 01 200 size (not sure what the SBA means)

74 means it is a "high leverage diagonal cutter"

01 means it has the thin plastic coated red grips
02 means it has the "multi component" fat plastic grips (red and blue)
08 means it has the 1000 volt grip (red and yellow)
12 means it has the multi component grip with an opening spring
22 means it has the head angled 12 degrees and the multi component grip

200 or whatever the number happens to be is the length in MM

Every Sears I stop into is trying to get a handle on how to deal with this new product and all of the Knipex.

Sears No. 2911 = 8" Diag. cutters (Knipex-high leverage)
Sears No. 29111 = 10" Diag. cutters (Knipex-high leverage)

The 2911 as listed above in the actual Sears/Knipex literature should likely be 29110, but that *&^% up likely has caused chaos.

Hence you can see the confusion.
As far as Sears.com, its a fustercluck.

Thanks everyone. I was leaning toward the cheaper of the two, so I'm glad you confirmed it for me. If Sears messes up the order, I'll just take them back to the store.

I also picked these up for $24.64, but it looks like the price changed this morning.

I was looking around more on the Knipex site and found some references to part numbers ending in SBA, but the meaning was still unclear. I contacted Knipex, Here is the response


The tools are the same. The SBA means that the tool comes on a card for
hanging on a display.
