Knipex Circlip Pliers (Snap Ring) ?

I need to get some snap ring pliers, either Knipex or Wiha. I do not need a full set. I just do some DIY stuff around house. My ratchets, table saw and floor jack, etc, use them.

It works on internal snap rings from 3/4" - 2-3/8". It looks like the smallest snap ring I have is in my 1/4" Gearwrench ratchet, it is 3/4" across. Any help would be appreciated.

I have used several sets of knipex snap ring pliers. My only complaint it that the tips can be fragile. I’d have to look at the part #, but they had really small tips (.030 or so). Two pairs have broken the tips. For the record, they were not used on a snap ring too big or were abused. The handles feel good and the joint is tight.

As long as you don't have a clearance issue, this set would be better. The "precision" type with the textured grips have more durable tips.

No personal experience, but I've read good things about them here on GJ - once they get hold of a ring, they won't let go. I'm not sure that tip style is available in 0.050 or less, due to the notch causing a weak spot.

I have the 1st type of Knipex that you posted - the 2nd type, with the inserted tips can have access issues.

While I can understand not wanting to buy an entire set, just having one size and internal only, is going to be frustrating. If you're just getting your feet wet in the wide world of circlips, the pliers come in internal, external, 0 deg, 45 deg, 90 deg, 0.030, 0.050, 0.070, 0.090 and I believe 0.125 tip sizes (and larger). It's somewhat baffling. I went with a Knipex set of eight, and supplemented it with two smaller and two larger ones. The set of eight was about $100 delivered from amazon.de.
